dog fetching paper

The world has come a long way in communications, haven't we?  I still remember the time when my Dad would come home from work and read the "evening" newspaper (I'm pretty sure it was the Washington Post) and watch one newscast on television.

Thanks to Al Gore's invention, we have the luxury of reading news from websites all over the world.  Wow!

As members of the real estate industry, we obviously keep up daily with changes in interest rates and the market in general.  We can get breaking news sent to our email, PDAs - whichever gadget we choose.

But what websites do you read every day?  Which ones help you stay on top of current events?  Every day I read the news from two local sites but I have about five national sites that I check out also.  With information coming at us fast and furious, I don't want to miss something important and sound uninformed if my customers bring up a topic.

Are you a fan of Forbes?  The Wall Street JournalThe Drudge Reportcomputer screenCNNFair and Balanced?  Please share your favorite news sites with us and give us the URL if it's not obvious.

Inquiring minds want to know!

I just read an article this past week, which mentioned that although newspaper sales were down, the websites that papers have created are some of the most visited on the internet.

I like the features on the New York Times site, so I go their to read articles too. I check local news, by going to the sites of local papers. Then I put blogs which are well written into my reader to keep up with certain topics that interest me. Most of those blogs come from the Wordpress site (it is an addiction, just like AR).

Well we should probably save the trees and read online.  I listen to TV, I love Fox News.

Dorene, I like Fox too, but I read it online instead of viewing the TV.  Thanks!

I think I read more news now then when I did get the newspaper.

One of first morning things to do is to check online news:

I go to the local newspaper site www.indystar.com
Then National at www.google.com/news
And cannot forget mortgage related at www.mortgagegrapevine.com

The last two sites can send me just about anywhere for news.

Good post
Tony

It is amazing isn't it?  How did we survive before the internet.  We just take it for granted now but it wasn't that long ago.

Yes I too read the news from the internet though TV is a great source too.  You can turn it on and have it going in the background and you will pick up things.

I roam around from site to site.  Newspaper sites, CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, our local newspaper, I roam around election blogs, real estate blogs, and go from site to site.  I find new sites every day with interesting articles.  The world has gotten smaller.

I do read my online news sites but ther's something about sitting down in the morning with the newspaper and a cup of coffee.  Old habits die hard!  Heck, after I'm up that's all te relaxation I get!

I enjoy getting into my morning paper, I find it my time to get away from the computer, family etc. When I do go on line I like the Wall Street Journal, Barron's. The other side of the coin I read a lot of trade website, like the California Association of Realtors, I have many that I go to.

i am a happy reader.

The trouble with most newspapers and TV news sites is that they are entertainment and ratings first, news a distant second. There's usually a spin on the story and it's hard to hear the actual truth. They tell us what they want us to know.

I have to agree with Doreen - I read most of my news online and have cancelled my news subscription just to help save a few trees.  Thanks for the posting

Jeremy, thanks SO much for the links.  I'm trying to get a routine down so I can hone down the sites to the ones I like best.  Again, thank you...
