When working with a buyer’s agent and exploring properties to purchase, your agent will typically refer to your impending purchase as a “home”. If you are in the process of selling your primary residence, you will notice that your agent will typically refer to it as a “house”. This is not a coincidence. Deciding on a new home can be an emotional decision. If you are trying to sell your “home”, you need to do everything you can to keep your emotions in check.

Emotional

Try to think of your house as a marketable commodity, not vastly different than an automobile, valuable painting or any other “asset” you might wish to sell. By detaching your emotions from the sale, it is much easier to get prospective buyer’s to see it as their potential “home”.

If you cannot de-personalize the process, it can sometimes take much longer to sell your property.
