Everyone knows it's important to backup your data in case it's lost or you need to go back to a prior version. Advanced Access does a system level backup of their data, so that you (and all clients together) are protected from company catastrophic situations. However, there is no backup/restore capabilities at the individual client level (as is the case with most online services). So, make sure you make your own backups of all your website pages, components and important images and documents.
All images and other files you upload for page content should be saved on your hard drive so that you can back it up regularly from your computer. The text that you cut and paste or manually input can also be copied and then pasted into an document editor, such as Word or a Web page editor such as Microsoft Expression Web (formerly Frontpage), or saved in HTML format in NotePad or an HTML editor.
A simple way to keep version backups in Virtual Office of your web components (forms, navigation menu, footers, headers, etc.) is to Copy the item assigning a date tag, such as default-footer-20YYMMDD (YY=2-digit year, MM=2-digit month number within year, DD=2-digit day of month).
You can also save any page viewable by your browser (e.g., Internet Explorer or Firebox) to your hard drive. Internet Explorer saves all text and images referenced by the page.
If you get used to doing these simple backup steps, it will require minimal effort to protect yourself from accidentally deleting a page or component or inadvertently making a catastrophic change to a web page.
