Judi - Thanks for all this great informaion. For some reason I didn't seem to hear too much about it on the local news - maybe I was watching the spurs or off on another channel.

The history of our state is very important. Ceil would like to go over to Goliad on March 29th. I would think it would be well worth the drive. Could be we may even begin to see some bluebonnets along the hiways on the drive over.

We do need to continue to tell people about our great state of Texas. Three of my inspections this week are people moving here from out of state.

Judi, what a great list of information!  I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Alamo a few years back, especially listening to the stories told by the guides about the history.

Hi Carl, thanks for stopping by.  I love reading about the history of Texas.  Found some great links I have to go back and read.  Will probably be sharing some of the info with everyone.  :)

A drive to Goliad on the 29th would be nice.  I'll bet it's interesting to attend the re-enactment too.  I bet you will see lots of bluebonnets by then.

Lisa,  glad you enjoyed the Alamo tour.  I was there when my cousin came to visit in January.  We didn't have time to listen to the stories told by the guides.  I found lots of information while doing some research for this post.  I'll be sharing it later.

Judi, I actually went and read your Texas Declaration of Independence! Something I probably never did in history class! Almost sounds as if they were declaring complete independence, not just from Mexico:)

Judi, how cool is that? There are so many neat things about our country that we don't know about or don't fully appreciate. Super post for your readers.

I wonder if they are doing anything at Washington-on-the-Brazos? I was busy working this weekend, so I did not check it out. They will give you a copy of the Texas Declaration of Independence there. Well, it is a nice drive from Houston, so maybe it is time to take the kids back up there again.

Karen, I think they were declaring complete independence.  Texas is a Republic it was never a colony of the U.S.  Interesting reading isn't it?

Teri, thanks for stopping by.  I'm not originally from Texas but my home town in Louisiana is only 30 miles from the Texas/Louisiana State line so have always been interested in the Texas history.  Plus, my great great grandmother was originally from San Antonio -- so I do have roots here.

Good Morning Judi: - I told Carl I would monitor this morning while I was home. I just noticed the time that you and Yolanda made your comment - don't you ever sleep? Don't forget to go over to Eyes on Texas and vote for TEX, that's the name Carl came up with for the Mascot.

Judy,

I have said for years that the greatest catalyst for business is to plan a personal life.  Never fails.  I think, should things ever slow, we just announce that we are going out of town.  Make a really big deal out of it.  Then stay home and reap the benefits without the stress of trying to cram all the work into the one hour window before the car pulls out of the drive way or the plane departs.  Sounds like a workable plan.  We look forward to seeing you.

That's exactly right!  Never thought about telling everyone I was leaving town, making a big deal out of it and then staying home!   That's pretty smart -- of course, we do plan a trip out of town, we really, really need to get away!!!  See y'all as soon as we can get there...
