If it feels good, do it!

We're all so busy - making a living, taking care of our homes, activities with our family and friends.  But if you really want to feel good about yourself and give back to your community, pick a favorite "cause" and volunteer to help them out for a few hours a month.

Even just a couple of hours spent doing something that they REALLY need done can mae a huge difference for a small grassroots non-profit.  So call them up and ask what you can do to help, then get busy and DO IT!

Better yet, combine  some family time with helping out your favorite charity - grab your kids or grandkids and get busy raising a few bucks to donate.  It's actually very easy to raise $100 and the kids will have a blast doing it (and they will remember it for the rest of their lives - talk about building memories!).

Some ideas for raising a quick $100:

1.  Have a Bake Sale - your kids can call all their friends and have everyone bake three or four items (a cake, a dozen cookies,a loaf of bread, etc).  Ask a local store if you can sit out there for a few hours on a Saturday and sell the items.

2.  Gather all your unneeded items and have a half day yard sale and donate the proceeds (or put them on Ebay).

3.  Create a theme basket and sell raffle tickets to your neighbors and co-workers for $5.00 each.  Sell 20 tickets and you have your $100.

4.  Hold a car wash.

5.  Hold a dog wash.

6.  Make some craft items and sell them.

7.  Go to Costco and buy bulk packages of large candy bars, then sell them for twice the money.  Your kids can go around the neighborhood and have their own candy sale.

8.  I am sure you can think up an even BETTER idea than any of these, can't you?

If everyone on Active Rain volunteered just two hours to a charity over the next month or helped their kids raise $100 to donate, just think about the impact it would have and what a difference it would make, all over the country.  And we'd all be smiling!
