Monday Morning Gifts... perfect with your coffee :)

Good Morning, it's Monday again, and today I have another gift....something for Spring. The weather has been crazy and some of us have seen Spring type weather much earlier than normal, but then again we saw snow one day and 80 degree weather the next. But it's March now.....and it's time for the weather to change.

Spring is in the Air.....

Morning Gift #1 Martisoare

March is named after the ancient Roman God Mars. It is the beginning of Spring in many Countries, and in Romania there is a tradition of wearing a small trinket called Martisoare. This trinket was a symbol of spring and good luck.

I made several of these for people when I lived in Romania. These trinkets are pretty much only given to Women.

So.....close you eyes, and pretend you are being given a little trinket with a red and white string, maybe a ladybug, a four leaf clover. that is your Good Luck Symbol for this Spring.

All of us could use a little Real Estate Good Luck right now.

Morning Gift #2- A little fun, sort of like a Horoscope. What's the Part of You That No One Sees? Just click the link, and then click a picture as directed. Oh, you don't have to do the Personality Test, just the picture one. It's short and eye appealing like a Garden, a nice variety of choices.

I remember Spring as having to open up windows and wash everything in the House, in other words WORK....and it is even more important for people selling their homes to plant, clean, and wash windows....in other words, yep work.

I liked the pictures. And the results were fairly accurate too.

Why did you live in Romania?

Balanced, peaceful, and sincere.

Kathy~The hysterical thing about this, is the symbol I imagined was a heart, then I clicked on the test to find this picture that was most appealing. Here is what part of mine said, well the only part I agreed with. LOL

Maureen Francis- I was a Peace Corps Volunteer for 3 1/2 years in Romania. My goal when I went was to learn customs, make crafts, oh....and do whatever work they wanted me to do :) Glad you liked the pictures :)

Vincent-The Internet is full of interesting little ditties.....and Spring just has to be one of the most lively times of year. Weather changing, sprouts coming up, and new growth everywhere......a new beginning.

Neal-I like how your mind works.....:) Actually it isn't my picture. My friend has been practicing with a new camera and she took this picture. I'll ask her....my question was how did she line them up like that LOL :)

Cynthia-I am so happy that you got the Martisoare....you can wear it all Month. I loved making these...and even more I loved giving them :) A ladybug on a 4 leaf clover....you can't get better luck than that unless you want to throw in a horseshoe LOL ;)

They say March comes in "Like a lion, and goes out like a lamb".....that is so true today. The winds have been very strong all week-end, and is just howling through my area of Riverside County. I wonder how all those little birds stay in their nests with 60 mph winds?

Fran- Funny..now let me grab another coffee to analyze that one....I can see you in that...boy that was dangerous to say. But yes you do have an outrageous personality, and are lively and dynamic....the rest I'm leaving alone :) :)

Julie-Now why doesn't that surprise me that you would pick the heart? The thing about Horoscopes and such is there are parts that can be right, and parts that aren't...The part of yours that was sounds SOOOO like what you portray on your blogs. The peacemaker, the one that is passionate, and kind, that's what I think of you.

I loved your tidbit/trinket of info/gem of symbolism about the Martisoare, and its association with spring and good luck. I always love storiesabout indigenous, cultural ways. Thanks for sharing such a variety.

O.K., for those of you that have been seeing an early spring,,,,,,,,,,pass some our way!! More snow, sleet, and freezing cold temps came into Illinois last night!! Arghhhhhhhh! Illinois - expect the unexpected state.

Virginia- Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for letting me know you sent it on.....:)

Mara- Different cultures have so many interesting customs. The funny part is many of our American ones come from somewhere else, and it's nice to learn the old ways in order to appreciate the new.......

Anyway, glad you found your way back, and Yesterday I received my Martisoar in the mail..... :)

Sandra-I heard.....oh my here we are with new flowers, and birds chirping and you are still getting slammed by the weather. I knew there was a reason I live on the West Coast :)

Anyway, it will end soon enough, and make your Spring just that much sweeter.......
