Jeff Turner on BubbleGuru.comThe last time I tested BubbleGuru.com here on ActiveRain was in May of 2007. It was in Beta 3 at the time and it broke a few things for people trying to view these pages in IE7. Since I notified the developers of the problem at the time and it's been 9 months since the last test, I thought it was time to give it another try.

Please note: Because of the way you have to insert it here on ActiveRain, it will pop up for each new post you navigate to in my account. That's pretty annoying, I admit. I doesn't work that way on other blog platforms, like a self-hosted Wordpress installation. Since you can put the ebmed code in the footer, it treats the site as a whole and will only play it the first time someone navigates to your site.

Please let me know if this new edition of BubbleGuru.com creates any problems for those of you on IE7.

EDIT: I have taken the bubble off the site and you can see what it looked like here: http://activerain.com/blogsview/410253/The-Missing-Bubble-Guru

Judy... I think it would be an interesting element to add for a special announcement about something, then remove it when the event is over, especially here on AR where it plays on every new post you load. On your personal blog, it could be used as a welcome greeting. It would only play the first time they came to the site.

Laura... :)

I had never heard of Bubble Guru. I just checked it out. That is so cool! I love it! I'm a Firefox user, and I only tested it on my own web site, but I see from the comments that it seems to be working fine fore everyone.

So, it plays only once as you navigate the site, but if you leave the site and come back later, it plays again?  Is that right?

Elaine... it will play again if the user comes back again after having closed down their browser, yes. It doesn't pop up on each post, as it does here on AR. Just tested again on TechnoSanity.com.

Hmmm It works, and it is cool but it talked to me.   Not sure what I think about that!

I see it! it worked just fine, kinda scared me a little bit. Still cool though.

Hey Jeff you need your own TV show.

Hi Jeff - that little bubble with you inside it followed me all down the page......probably cool to some, creepy to some......  not sure where I fall, but interesting technology nevertheless.

Jeff, When I opened up your blog.  Your bubble came up and it looked like you were talking but I could not hear anything even after adjusting the volume. AJ  Ps.  I will have to try it later.

Hi Jeff I signed up for Real Estate World. It will take some work and time to figure out like all the rest have. But I am really devoted to the online networking. You really inspire me everyday.

Great job!  Seems like it would have some great potentials past the "somewhat creepy" factor!

No problem on my IE 7.0570.13.  Does it work on previous versions of IE or only v7?

That is pretty cool but when I tried to see a sample on my site it didn't do anything. I heard the bubble noise but I saw nothing. Looks pretty cool though.

Works fine for me in IE7 on my Dell PC. Feels like more of a novelty and a distraction than something that brings value to a site, but I'm open to see what future bubbles may hold. For now, an interesting spin on bubble blogs. :)

John... you're 100% right on the novelty. That's why I would likely use it to announce some time based event. It gets in your face and makes sure whoever comes to your site knows about it. Then, when the event was over, I'd probably take it down and wait for another good reason to use it. That said, a very short, "Hi, I'm...." would not be a bad use either.

Love this site!  I didn't know about it so I've scored this morning.  Noticed a few Mac comments (being snoopy).  I'd love to know if I should get a Mac next time (soon).  Don't have time for another learning curve, and don't know the down side - if any, but something keeps telling me to switch... like when I'm trying to get Excel to work when Outlook is open; heaven forbid Word is open too.

Thanks AGAIN.

Hey Jeff! It is always a pleasure listening and watching your video tutorials and such, but it is a little creepy how that bubble follows you down the screen as you scroll down the page. ;-)

Cool tool! Worth trying out.

Jeff, I had noticed that bubble guru when I visited your page some time ago and I wondered what it was and why it was following me. Now that I see it isn't supposed to do that I will have to give it some more thought and possibly a try.
