Spam or No Spam, it's your group, you decide!
A few days ago, 2 posts about spam & plagiarism caught my eye...
- Is that Featured Post Plagiarized? by Kathy McGraw
- "Would You like a Side of SPAM with Your Comments?" - AR Guidelines Re-Visited by Rich Jacobson
I'm not naive enough to think that spam in any of it's forms will ever be totally eliminated. People desperate for attention will keep trying to get us to read their junk.
In the past month or two, I've noticed a few(very few) members of the marketing group submitting the same post 3 or 4 times, one right after another. I've also noticed one gentleman who has a tendency to submit 10 to 20 posts(not kidding) within an hour. Obviously these are not original posts, just reprints of someone else's stuff. This is on top of the normal spam stuff like "here is who I am and here is what I want to sell you!".
In Kathy's post about plagiarism I made a comment about outing spammers and people desperate for attention. I'm not sure if I want to do this or how the rest of the group members feel about it but I'd love to have some input and feedback. My idea is that if you...
- post outright spam/sales pitches
- submit the same post 3, 4, 5 + times in a row
- submit plagiarized material
- submit 10 - 20 posts within an hour
I will give you more attention that you're probably looking for by posting your pic and the offending posts as an example of what not to do in our group.
As I said, right now it's just an idea I'm toying with and since our group has almost 4900 members, I thought we should all have our say on this. Personally I know I'm tired of reading off topic stuff, spam and posts from copy & pasters so... Spammers, plagiarisers, etc... If you're really looking for attention, you may get more than you expected.
Any opinions? feedback? Suggestions? Let me know... And now, some of the must read marketing posts from this past week...
In no particular order, here are some of the best Active Rain marketing posts from this past week...
