Wortham Manor Near Lifton
Winter vacation.... Business as Usual? Always!
Tonight I'm leaving for a weekend vacation in the country. Devon England. A friend and a client that I sold an apartment to last year invited 15 friends for a suprise 40th birthday celebration at Wortham Manor. I'll be flying into Bristol and driving to Devon.
Landmark Trust a charity organization in the UK restores historical landmarks and then rents them out. So this weekend I will be staying with friends in the medieval Wortham Manor.
I was thinking I shouldn't be going away - clients will want me, it's such a busy time. Then I thought - It's always a busy time. Everyone going is in my SOI, not to rationalize but sometimes you just have to say Why Not?
Wortham Manor once belonged to the wealthy Tudor family of Dinham, who remodelled the building, which is thought to date back to the 15th century. There is decorative carving in the north porch and other original features such as Gothic wood-carving and flagstone flooring. Following restoration, little has changed aesthetically, but the house now features underfloor heating, modern kitchen facilities and plush bed-linen. Guests have the run of eight bedrooms, two living rooms and a large dining room.
The Manor does not have an Internet connection, so I won't be able to blog about it until Monday night when I get home. What will I do without activerain for 4 days? I will miss you guys. I will have my cell phone for those who must reach me.
