Winter vacation.... Business as Usual? Always!

Tonight I'm leaving for a weekend vacation in the country. Devon England. A friend and a client that I sold an apartment to last year invited 15 friends for a suprise 40th birthday celebration at Wortham Manor. I'll be flying into Bristol and driving to Devon.

Landmark Trust a charity organization in the UK restores historical landmarks and then rents them out. So this weekend I will be staying with friends in the medieval Wortham Manor.

I was thinking I shouldn't be going away - clients will want me, it's such a busy time. Then I thought - It's always a busy time. Everyone going is in my SOI, not to rationalize but sometimes you just have to say Why Not?

Wortham Manor once belonged to the wealthy Tudor family of Dinham, who remodelled the building, which is thought to date back to the 15th century. There is decorative carving in the north porch and other original features such as Gothic wood-carving and flagstone flooring. Following restoration, little has changed aesthetically, but the house now features underfloor heating, modern kitchen facilities and plush bed-linen. Guests have the run of eight bedrooms, two living rooms and a large dining room.

The Manor does not have an Internet connection, so I won't be able to blog about it until Monday night when I get home. What will I do without activerain for 4 days? I will miss you guys. I will have my cell phone for those who must reach me.

Mitchell, people constantly tell me that they sell something when they go on vacation, so that is a reason to go right there; besides, you deserve it! And you will be having way too much fun to worry about blogging.... I have to add, 'come back!' because you might not want to :-)

Sounds awesome!  I'd love to nip over to Devon for the weekend!  I wanted to tell you to pop over to Dartmouth, my favorite city in Devon if you have the chance (it's only an hour and a quarter away), but you're already gone.  Well I'm sure you'll  have a fabulous time.  Tell us about it when you get back :)

Hey Jessica,

I'm back it was a great long weekend. Good food, good drinks, good friends, met really nice people. The weather in Devon was wonderful 50-60 degrees and very sunny everyday. We stayed on a farm and the grass was so green. I walked the moors in Clovelly.

It wasn't until Monday when we drove to Heathrow near London where the weather was gray and dreary and cold. We stopped at Eaton for Lunch. Loved seeing the kids in coat and tails school uniforms. Very Harry Potter.

I haven't done a post because I can't find a real estate angle.

Hi Carole,

Thanks, I found all these pictures on my computer from my trip so I decided to post them. That is the real estate angle - the pictures. They brought back memories. Wortham Manor is definitely a "pre-war building" lol.

Now I'm ready for summer vacations but I don't have to go very far. I love NY and Long Island has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. My favorites are Fire Island (paradise without cars) and East Hampton called "the prettiest town in North America".
