Child Care Directory for Families Relocating to Camp Lejeune Marine Base

I understand that in most families both parents work outside the home and it is necessary to have day care for preschool age children. I also realize what a daunting task it is to research and locate the day care and preschool facilities in an area when you are new to the area.

With so many military families relocating to Camp Lejeune Marine Base in Jacksonville, N C, I felt it would be helpful to put together a Child Care Directory.

This is the first of two directories which I will publish. This one concentrates on the Hubert and Swansboro area of Onslow County and the Daycares and Preschools located there.

The second one will focus on childcare centers in Jacksonville, N C.

Please understand that this is not an endorsement of any type and may not include all childcare facilities although I attempted to include all within the stated area.

Cynthia- I was thinking about doing a post to address this very issue after visiting a past client who just had her first child but had to go back to work. This type of information is appreciated by someone new to the area.

Cynthia, Love the large font...I can read it without squinting for a change! Great information, people with small children need all the resources they can get, especially when they are relocating.

Cynthia - This is absolutely wonderful information for families relocating to Camp Lejeune! You certainly do make relocating helpful for these families. I hope they are fortunate enough to have you as their Realtor.

Very good post. I'm sure quite a few families will use it as a resource.

Cynthia- Ahh playmates for your little one :) Good Childcare is important to Military Families relocating. They should find this quite helpful.

Great post........ Question... How did you get the large font... I haven't figured that one out yet.

is it that time again. You know swimming in the ocean. I like around 80 degree water temps. But you never know who will take a dip.

Cynthia~Can you tell I'm catching up? We all have so much to learn from you and the outstanding information you provide to your localism. Child care is top priority for most parents and you have made that search so much easier.

Cynthia, the Child Care Directory is a great idea! We have a lot of military bases here in San Antonio so hmmm... maybe that would be a good idea here as well.

One other affordable childcare option, especially for military families is to hire an au pair. Au pairs are thoroughly screened and have a background in childcare with references. Also families that need flexibility and have more than 1 child find it to be a huge savings (you pay one fee, about $340/week - which includes the placement and other costs for as many children that you have).

In addition to live in nanny's and babysitter there is the wonderful opportunity to enrich your lives and those you love. Au pairs are a wonderful addition to your family and what a better way to promote cultural exchange while also being provided quality childcare with screened international young adults that enjoy children and are looking at being a part of your family. Au Pairs come from many different countries and have had criminal background checks, personal and professional references checks as well as a medical check.

I have had the opportunity to have an au pair as well as be a host mom to exchange students and my children have learned so much in a short time without leaving the U.S. We have had languages from German to Thai in our home and our family and relatives as well as local community have been exposed and opened to the excitement of cultural exchange.

For those that still question the world of au pairs please feel free to contact me and I can over the benefits you and your family get from it. Why not pick up the phone and ask a few questions it wount hurt and it wont cost you anything.
