Sometimes just changing out the bedding, artwork and accessories will change the feel of the room. This bedroom went from traditional to contemporary in 1 hour.

When staging a home to sell it is important to know your target market. Will the buyer most likely be a single person or a first time buyer? Will a young family be your target market or will the 55 and over community be the people looking to buy?

Depending on your potential buyer it is important as a seller to reach that particular buyer. When staging your home to sell keep that in mind for every room. Most single guys LOVE that black, white and grey color scheme, but remember that most woman want COLOR.

Keeping things neutral is always best, but you would not stage a contemporary home the same way you would stage an older Victorian home. The decor just would not fit. So how do you know what to do?

Thanks for the great post Phyllis. I agree 100% with you on this one. I am an on-site Realtor and we have 10 differnt models to look at; one with antiques, a couple contemporary, a few moderm models and some that are traditional. This is a big help when we have different people walk in. The 55 plus crowd love the antique model. The singles love the comtemporary and the couples love the more traditional model. Thanks again and take care.

Phyllis what you have said is so important for staging.  Just the other day Margo and I were viewing a condo in downtown Calgary that is obviously geared toward young professionals.  I must have lost it for a moment when I suggested staging the second bedroom as a child's room.  Margo soon set me straight.  Knowing your target audience is a must.  Thanks for the post.  Betty

Hey Sandra the table actually belonged to the client, he was using it as his kitchen table.
