An Open Letter TO MRIS & Supra Kim

This is an open letter to MRIS & Supra Kim.

Here is the challenge. I work in Virginia. I am a licensed REALTOR in Virginia. I pay my MRIS dues quarterly. I pay my SUPRAKIM lockbox fees - well - I am not really sure when I pay them, but I know I pay them; it is auto deducted from my credit card.

On the SUPRA KIM website, agents have the ability to log on and view their active lock boxes. It tells us the lockbox number, the shackle code, and the MRIS number that we have attached to it, as well as the property address.

Unless the listing is in Fairfax County, Virginia. For some reason, those lock boxes will not sync with MRIS, and it does not display the property address if it is in Fairfax County. A real pain.

I have called SUPRA KIM. They say call MRIS, or my local Realtor Association. I called MRIS. They say it is a SUPRA problem. I called my local association. They have no idea what I am talking about.

Bottom line - I am licensed to do business anywhere in Virginia. I pay my dues. MRIS and SUPRA are certainly linked; all of my other listings sync fine.

Why am I being tasked with fixing this problem?

So I implore you, MRIS and Supra - talk to each other. Please fix this snafu.

Thanks

Kevin McGrath

Kevin,

I live and work out of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and, we too, are having issues like these.  Certain properties don't sync and we can not get addresses to display.

If you get resolution to this problem, please share with me!

Every time we even think about supra, kim and fixing anything, we get irate. Shouldn't be that way.

hmm, i haven't had this problem, but the only thing I don't like is either the smart phones don't care about IR or KIM ekeys need to go bluetooth also

Kevin I have the solution for you, don't sell anything in Fairfax:-)

Kevin:

Are you talking about a problem with seeing who's been in your listings on KIM?  I don't have that problem.

Chris - no - I can see who has shown - on KIM - for my Fairfax listings - it does not show the address - only the MRIS # - so I have to keep looking them up. It was not bad when I only had 2 listings there - but I am up to 6 now. My point to Kim is that I am licensed in the entire state of VA - why won't KIM work for me correctly in Fairfax County.

Dan - at first I thought of that - but I am getting to where I like going there. Much easier to find Starbucks up there.

Ross -  I would like to switch to a smart phone - sounds like it would be easier.

Terry - out of curiosity - what is the difference?

Gary - I agree - it should be so simple.

ELizabeth - EXACTLY my problem.

Kevin,

Competition Matters. Wish we had another choice for MRIS.  I am also involve in an over charged billing snafu, which they haven't fix.

Kevin:  Same with NC/SC--I have a license in both and have issues EVERY time I show in SC. It does not make me look very professional when my SUPRA key doesn't work, now does it?!!  I too, have been irate over this issue and others in Charlotte experience the same issues.

What you describe may be the catalyst for PWAR debating whether or not to go with Supra.  It will be interesting dynamics if they opt to go some other way.  It is very interesting how so many lockboxes are being used that will not permit access through a Palm device.  That necessitates using the Display Key; read carrying two devices to access lockboxes.  Although the "blue" boxes are all that your MLS issues, agents from the north seem to prefer the "grey" or "buff" colored boxes (access through Display Key only).

Ever consider using combination lockboxes exclusively?  I have!

I serve on the Subscriber Advisory Council of MRIS, and I never leave a meeting without a reaction of "WOW!"  I can't believe all they do for us, and how hard their highly competent staff works to anticipate and address our future needs.  I just wish that some of the MRIS critics had an opportunity to see this for themselves.  In the meantime, if critics feel like their every wish is not fulfilled, contact some of the SAC members who will be happy to carry your concerns to the next quarterly meeting.

By the way, did you read the letter today about MRIS voluntarily returning some of their profits to users in the form of a credit on their next bill?
