The Circle of Life.......

My older brother, Rob, married Eula right after Laura and I got married in 1974.  Eula's father, Francis, was a Baptist minister and did the ceremony (I was Best Man).  Eula made all of the tuxes for the guys!  Francis had been suffering with Cancer that finally went to his bones earlier this month and was in a lot of pain.  Eula made an emergency trip up here from Kansas City, MO.  He died the next day.  The day of the funeral, we spent in Geneseo, IL with Rob's extended family (the Scrantons).  It was the first time since our Alaska cruise that all three Lang boys and their wives were together with our Mom and Dad.

Lang Family

Brian's wife, Luanne, lost her dad first.  Then Laura lost her mom.  Now Rob's wife lost her dad.  All of our wives now have one parent living.  With my dad having had a Cancer tumor removed from his bladder recently (with the likelihood of it returning) it was another sobering moment for me.

Lang Family

I held Rob's 6th granddaughter in my arms for over an hour that day.  She is only 10 weeks old with a full head of black hair!  What a beautiful sweet baby!!!

And the circle of life continues........

Lucky - thanks for sharing some family time.  What a wonderful picture of your family - each person with a beautiful smile.  I have lost several family members to cancer and cherish my family as well.

Hi Lucky - what wonderful family pictures these are!  I had to do a double take when looking at your mom.  She looks so much like a great-aunt I have.  When I first saw the pictures here, I wondered how and why you had a picture of my great-Aunt Nelle, and then when I looked again, I realized it wasn't her but somone who looks so much like her.

Ann,

Here's another post I did just about my Mom:  HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, MOM!!!

I used to have a Great-Aunt Nellie that was my Mom's Mother's Sister.  But she didn't look anything like her. :)  When my Brother, Brian, and I went over to mow her grass for her she would reward us by taking out a shot glass and filling it halfway up with Pepsi!  She was very sweet, bless her heart, but VERY FRUGAL!!!

Lucky :)

Virginia,

Cancer is BAD stuff.  Every time I think of the big "C", I think of Karen George and her very open and very courageous battle!  She has remained faithful to helping us Rainers throughout her treatments.  What a TROUPER!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a Blessed Easter!

Lucky :)

Hi Lucky - she looks even more like my great-Aunt Nelle in the picture on your Mother's Day tribute.  That was a sweet post!  Thanks for directing me there.

Hi Younger Brother Lucky,

Thanks for posting our family pictures.  Mom and Dad have had good long lives and maybe that points to long lives being in store for us.  But forever how long we are here, we have family we can turn to for ideas, help, guidance, and love and we have memories of those who have gone on before us.  Family -- what a blessing!

What great family photos, Lucky, and how wonderful to see your family all together. Saying goodbye to loved ones is one of the most difficult times in life, being with family is one of the best ways to cope. I hope you have many more reunions, Lucky.
