If you are not learning you are dying. I believe that statement is true in business and in life. I recently committed us to a show in Ft Lauderdale. I talk a bit about it in previous blogs. Aside from the show itself here is what I learned.
We are faced with tough times. The unthinkable 4.00 a gallon for gas is thinkable and probable. The stock market moves up and down more than a yo yo. The only people who believe we are not in a tough recession are in passport control having just arrived from Neptune. Inflation in the supermarket is obvious. Maybe with the prices of groceries going up the way they are we will not need Jenny Craig to help us eat less. ( The only silver lining)
I sit here reminded of the farmer in the Good Earth talking about the land. The land with it permanence and value. I think to myself investing in Real-estate whether land or a home makes so much sense now. If you are worried or afraid about your future real estate is exactly where you should be. Good land at good prices will increase in value better than the rate of inflation. A home is your roof over your head. It is security. At the show I saw so many people trying to finally make the move into real estate. Finally seeing the value of real estate. Finally seeing through the doom and gloomers. Understanding that this is a great market to buy in. Some were buying land as a legacy fore their children.
So what did I learn? I learned that the land , the land, as Wang Lung lamented is where you want to be. It is your security. I also learned that in my profession I can help people get there. It was a great learning experience.
