Today, I am going to express my thoughts on the current market and the challenges we all face in the real estate/mortgage industry. It is no secret that guidelines change on a daily basis, and the subprime market is not non-existent. Companies are going out of business and the news we watch is very grim. Does this pose a challenge for us...absolutely! With that said, if you agree with me, we just have to work harder and smarter in today's market. When I say this I mean if you have the wonderful client who is excited and ready to buy, but there is one small problem, their credit it less than desirable. Rather, than tell them sorry and move on to the next buyer/borrower, we must work with them to get them where they need to be in order to buy that house whether it be 3-6 months later. Do not let them walk away discouraged and thinking that they will never have the benefit of home ownership!!! I have been working with some of my clients since September of last year and by May this year they are going to be able to qualify and start looking for that dream home. The clients that I have done this with have told me that they were surprised that I have continued to follow their progress and cared enough to help them make that dream a reality! Is that not what our job is all about. Sure we have bills to pay and it is our means of living, but if you are like me, you got in this business/industry to help people and if you just turn them away when they can not buy today, you missing out on a lot of business. These are the clients that are going to tell their friends and family what you did for them and in return it will just be the snowball effect! "When the going gets tough(which it is), the tough(like myself) get going!!!" Again, work harder and smarter for your clients and the reward in the end will be GREAT!
I have a licensed credit repair person I send some clients to, the fee is very minor compared to work he is able to do for them. Don't let them walk away only to use another lender/agent 6 months later. MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
