I have gotten a few emails and comments asking why my new blog is called Home Staged By Owner. Some people are confused that I am teaching home sellers how to stage or that I am not doing the actual staging for their homes.

The goal of my new blog is to talk to consumers or home sellers about home staging in simple terms so they can better understand how a Select Home Stager can help them market and prepare a home for sale. I also want to give home sellers some easy tips and suggestions of things they can do to make their homes more buyer friendly. There are thousands of homes for sale in our market at this time- and resale home sellers are hungry for ideas of how they can make the best first impression on buyers.

I hope to use this blog as a resource for home sellers and use my experiences with clients to educate them on what they need to do to prepare their home for a faster and more profitable sale. The story below really shows home sellers why it pays to put your time and your effort in to staging your home:

This testimonial takes the prize for how home staging is changing the way homes are bought and sold in Pennsylvania. You will have to check out Home Staged By Owner to read more.

Kate, this is an excellent teaching tool.  These are the type of activities that will continue the education process and forward our industry.  I always sigh a breath of relief knowing that people with your marketing talents are out there educating consumers and I encourage stagers with the ability to deliver a well thought out message to follow your lead in their own areas.  Excellent.

Kate ~ That is too funny!  What a coincidence - I guess it is a small world!

This is great tool! I think the more information we give clients (well limited tips, etc.) the more comfortable home owners feel with the process and are apt to have a professional help them.

It's a great way to address e-newsletters too! Give the Realtors/Clients some great info/tips to keep them coming back for more and you'll eventually get them as clients.

Giving always comes back around to us. :)

BTW Kate, I really like your new photo! Green is a great color for you and you look very approachable.

Kate, first let me say I love the new photo.  It is the essence of you...

Education is key and it's always better to give them real and useful information, as they will want more and soon realize that they need someone to put it all together.

Hi Kate!  Great idea!  You are a fine educator and always have the best interests of the homeowner at heart!  Staging is becoming more mainstream...and now, we need to help the homeowner understand how to choose the right staging professional to help them!  Regards-Kathleen G

Kate - It's a great idea and you are after all highly recognized as a leading staging professional (dare I say, "authority")?  Some home sellers will use these tips, others will instead figure it too much work and call in a stager to do it for them; the choice will be theirs, but at least they'll have an idea as to what should be addressed.

Hi Jackie,

thanks for your comment- you are all too kind! I am glad that you understand that I am not trying to give it all away to home sellers. One thing I learned from the Roundtables is that stagers need to reach out to the consumer and finding a way to do this is time intensive and expensive.

My hope is that the new blog teaches home sellers the value of staging, gives them some advice but also proves to them how staging professionals can help. I am really excited about Select Home Stagers and think it will be a great way for stagers to grow their business and to establish a national standard for quality staging. KH
