Rate shopping? Use this as a tool to help do it right!

For those people that like to shop for the best rates, I have a tool to help you find not only a good rate, but a REAL rate and find out if you are working with a true mortgage professional or not. The link below is to a form that has 4 questions you should be asking your mortgage professional when talking about rates, programs, etc. If they can't answer these questions, you need to reconsider working with them, they may end up costing your more money in the end! Keep in mind, with the volatile market we are in right now, shopping around isn't the best way to lock in a rate that might not be there the next time you talk to that planner, the best way to do it is to find one you really trust and has your best interests at hand and stick with them! Honesty and integrity go a LONG way!

Remember, you get what you pay for, the cheapest rate may not be the best loan for you or the best deal in the long run. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, thanks for the support and opportunity to earn your business!!

i totally agree, find a professional you can communicate with and as long as they are honest and have your best interest in hand you will get a good deal

Thanks guys, I hope this really helps educate your clients on what to be on the look for when discussing rates.  People get so caught up in the lowest rate, this and that, they totally overlook how they are getting that rate, what they are receiving in value from the mortgage professional, etc, and before they know it they have gotten a bad loan and they never hear from the loan officer again :(

Great post scott, I am always trying to get my buyers to question the LO's, especially when it is a randdom from out of state.

Thanks Richard and Rob!  The clients really need to know who they are working with, it's scary how many people will go with an internet lender to save a .125% on their rate only to get bait and switched at the end, you get what you pay for, customer service isn't the primary concern of the internet lenders, etc.  Thanks again!

Thanks Scott. I frequently explain to my borrowers that rates move in real time and by the time you find who has the best rate it most likely will have changed. Also, you summed it up on price is what you pay value is what you get (Dale Vermillion). It is always nice to hear someone else echo this.
