If you are relocating to the area and have children, education is a high priority. Unfortunately, this area is not known for having the best schools. However if you do your research, you will find there are good schools in Chatham, Effingham, and Bryan Counties. The determination of what makes a school good will depend on individual preferences. I have heard a bunch of praise for a school that another group of people said was horrible. Internet research should be the first step in school determination. The final and best approach is to actually visit those schools while in session. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. If you are relocating in the summer, you will not be able to see the school in action.

If you are considering a home in close to Hunter then Chatham County Public Schools and Bryan County Public Schools should be researched. Both counties are also close to Fort Stewart as well. If you have already done some house hunting, you can use the school locator for Chatham County to determine the schools districted for that home. For Bryan County, you can determine your schools by there description at the very bottom of their welcome page.

Effingham County is a little further out and experiencing a lot of growth. However, there are homes with more land available out in this area. If you like a more country feel, than Effingham County might be your ideal place. The cities closest to Hunter and Stewart are Rincon and Guyton. Effingham County Schools can be located by using their district maps.

Also, there will be new school being built. Either a combined elementary and middle or two separate schools are scheduled to be built in Pooler, Georgia (Chatham County). They will be located off the Jimmy DeLoach Parkway on Benton Boulevard. There has also been talk of a new high school. However, a location has not been decided.
