Working at home has its benefits. It's quiet, you can work in your pj's and it's quiet. But most importantly you are ALONE!. In this market sitting at home waiting for business leaves you a lot of time to clean your house and catch Oprah or Ellen on TV, but gets you no business. I have a regular coffee shop with a regular table I take three mornings a week for 2 hours. This is my "un-official" office. They know my name when I walk in and people sitting there hear me put my purchases "on account". I have a folder with my real estate info that I stand up on the table. I get out my computer and get to work. I answer and send emails, write my blog (yes, I'm there right now!), address my letters, do CMA's and make my phone calls. But more importantly, I listen to the people around me. By using the art of conversation, I have walked away with an agent I recruited, three new listings and two buyers. Is your home office giving you this type of activity
As with eveything else, Location! Location Location! This shop has free internet and no TV. There is comfortable seating and tables. It is on a main street in a very high traffic professional area. I talked the owner into letting me leave a small printer under counter when I need a hard copy. And best of all, it's only 5 minutes away from my real estate office if I need to get forms signed or use a fax! So pick your spot carefully and remember it is "work" time not gossip time.
Great idea Mike! I often tell my agents to get OUT of the office. There business is not in the office, it's outside. Eat, sleep and breathe real estate and you will be a success!!!!
Good luck to you.
