By
Real Estate Agent with Bennion Deville Homes (Formerly Windermere Real Estate) - Palm Springs Area

Have a look at some of the upcoming events in the Coachella Valley. These include the major Pacific Life Open and Kraft Nabisco Tournaments. It's a great time to buy here. Interest rates are low and inventory plentiful. Please contact me with your client referrrals and be assured that they will receive the most comprehensive education about this area and values throughout the Valley. Thanks. -Stephen C. A tale of the markets

Real Data Strategies analyzed four distinct segments of the local market: entry-level homes, which are priced under $500,000; move-up homes, which range from $500,000 to $749,99; upscale homes that round out the six figures and luxury homes that are priced above $1 million.

The analysis of the Desert Area Multiple Listing Service shows:
Despite an across-the-board drop in sales, average prices actually went up. The fourth-quarter average sales price in 2007 was $492,824. That's nearly 2 percent more than the same quarter in 2006.

The move-up category (from $500,000 to $749,999) as well as the upscale homes (from $750,000 to $999,999) saw average sales prices stay virtually flat and even slight increases.
