I am in negotations with a couple re-locating from Florida. We are going between 2 properties and the style and distance for negotiating a deal are mind boggling.

The Seller lives in Colorado, the buyer's wife is in Orlando, the buyer is on Business in Pensacola and the Listing Agent is at the Remax convention in Las Vegas. The Lender and I are in Atlanta. So betrween many calls, texts, e-mails and faxes, we are working on a deal.

We all take this type of communication for granted, but it hasn't been that long that we didn't even have overnight mail. After that came faxes, and then e-mail and texting.

All of this technology makes our life easier....or does it??

Ah what a question!!!! I came into the business five years ago and we had everything we do today except texting and e-mailing docs. The older folks in the office remember when the listings were compiled into a phone book style binder and you had to review those to find a house!

Hi Al, I recently added virtual offices for all my agents.  They can all do transactions from any computer and issue a secure user name and password so everyone in the transaction can access, upload and view the process including a checklist for any document requirements.  The age of technology is making distances a thing of the past.  Nice post.

Remember the days of driving around with keys to the homes, no cell phones, fax was the greatest new "toy" - what do you think another 20 years will bring??

You know, on one hand we say "How did we ever conduct business without theses technologies?"  On the other hand, wouldn't it be great to go on vacation?  I mean a REAL vacation where you can't answer any cell phone calls or check email.  Technology has turned so many of us into workaholics!

Hi Al,
Technology is great in most respects, sure makes things faster.  One of the disadvantages is people are more impatient, they expect everything immediately and if we do not respond in that manner, they move on.

Al, the technology makes it easier when it works!  Now that we have e-mail on cell phones...
