Phoenix Spring Training 2008

Arizona Real Estate - HomeSmart Real Estate
The Chicago Cubs play Spring Training Baseball at HoHoKam Park in Mesa, Arizona. Cubs games typically have higher attendance than any other Cactus League games in Arizona. HoHoKam Park is located at 1235 N. Center Street, Mesa, AZ 85201,480-964-4467.

The name HoHoKam means 'those who vanished' can be traced back to a local Native American tribe that was formerly in the Mesa area, however HoHoKam Park is named after a local charitable organization that was key in luring the Cubs to Mesa's Rendezvous Park way back in 1952. (The Cubs have not been training Mesa continuously since 1952; the team moved spring training to Long Beach in 1966 and Scottsdale in 1967 before moving back to Mesa in 1979.) HoHoKam Park is probably the hottest ticket in the Cactus League. And with a total capacity of 12,623 (including 8,000 fixed seats, 2,000 bleacher seats, and lawn capacity of over 2,500), HoHoKam Park is the second-largest stadium in the Cactus League.

HoHoKam Park is a top notch spring-training facility. It certainly has the largest scoreboard in the Cactus League featuring a 12'x16' instant replay video screen on a 32-foot high left-field scoreboard. The contours of the outfield wall are designed with the same dimensions of those at Wrigley Field but there's no ivy or brickwork. HoHoKam Park is also the home of the Arizona Fall League Mesa Solar Sox and the Mesa Cubs in the Arizona Rookie League.

The Spring Training schedule for the 2008 season is below. All games start at 1:05 p.m. Arizona time unless otherwise stated. The games will be played at HoHoKam Park, unless otherwise stated.

If you find yourself flying into Phoenix for Spring Training for a game or vacation and find you just love the landscape of Arizona, perhaps a vacation home, second home is in order! Be sure to give me a call and I will be happy to arrange some properties that fit your criteria and enhanced your visit to Arizona even more eventful!! Candace, I am sure that you will enjoy those Spring Training days.  In Florida, my father sometimes attends some of the Spring Training games.  Here in the D.C. area, all eyes are on the Washington Nationals and their newly constructed stadium -- opening day at the end of the month.  I've got tickets to several games at the new stadium and will likely use them with clients this year.

Candace, opening day is March 30th at the Nationals Stadium and I do plan to write a post a little later this month about it and look forward to attending some games there.  The two best places that I've been to baseball games are Fenway Park for my beloved Red Sox and Camden Yards in Baltimore which is just a great stadium and a great place to watch a ballgame.
