A lot of people ask me or members of my Take 5 Team about the business right now.  They ask if it is tough to be in real estate.

Of course, I always maintain the positive response as I believe and act in a manner that the business is what you make of it.  As I have said on my monthly on line magazine, "Sales is the only profession where your annual raise is determined by your daily effort."

Having said that...the business is tough.  Not because of the market mind you, but because depsite what people think or have been told, it is a hard business to succeed in because it is a diverse, comprhensive and self directed profession.  Consider some of the areas we must excel at:

  • Sales skills
  • Technology
  • Legal knowledge of real estate issues
  • Ethics
  • Marketing
  • Organization and Time Management
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Negotiation
  • Contracts
  • Public Relations
  • Personal Development

I can go on, but you get the idea.  Is it a great business, sure.  Is it a tough business....you bet.  But tough makes you strong and the strong survive (as we are finding out).  So, when people ask how's business....we know it's tough out there....but italways has been if you take the business seriously.  Good or bad market...a preofessional real estate agent has plenty to do.

That is absolutely correct. When I get a little slow I educate myself more and begin training on techniques etc to make myself better.

Great Post, as always.  Let's not forget that we must excel at ACCOUNTING! and BUDGETS!  If we don't, our sales may be great, but our business may be a mess.  We can't spend what we don't have.  It's time, once again, to review your business budget for this year............

Thanks for being a part of the "positive attitude" contingency. In all markets there are buyers and sellers. I have invested wisely in professional development over the years. I'm currently honing my prospecting skills.
