SEO involves multiple facets of your web design efforts. Here are some web tools to help you determine some of your future actions for your site.
- On another post Maureen suggested iwebtool.com for a spider tool. Here is the whole set of tools they offer: http://www.iwebtool.com/tools/
- In previous articles (see SEO Index) we concluded that we inbound links were a huge benefit to a site. Quality links in great quantity is the best option. To determine if you want a page to link to you first verify that they are cached with google. Go to Google, type "cache:www.sitename.com" where sitename is the actual URL. If the page is displayed that means Google knows it's out there. If you get a message saying the page doesn't exist then the page will give you no immediate credit.
- Download the google toolbar for your browser. It will show you with every page what the Page Rank (PR) of a site is, from their perspective.
- Go to Alexa.com and click "traffic rankings" at the top. Type in the site name you inquire about and submit it. Alexa has a toolbar they allow users to install. It tracks every web site they visit. So, in theory, if they get enough people with this toolbar it gives a pretty good representation of what is being visited. However, I take those results lightly since a fairly small percent of users has the toolbar.
- Go to http://www.linkpopularity.com/ and enter in your URL to find out how many links your site has, according to each search engine.
- Go to http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/ and enter in your URL. This site gives you a breakdown of how your site is built and how long it may take to download. Ignore the comments at the bottom with the "good, caution, and bad" ratings because their justification is outdated. However, this will give you a really good idea of what your site is composed of.
Please comment below if you know of other very useful web tools for SEO. Thank you.
