I like to be helpful.  I never feel like "this is not my job".  If my client needs an electrician and the house is vacant, I call an electrician and meet him over at the house.  If my client is too busy to meet the exterminator, hey, no problem.  I'm there.  I'll deliver meals, dust, vacuum and even go food shopping for my clients if that is what they need at that particular moment.  I think that is why I have a lot of repeat business.  I think that is why most of my business is referral business.  My clients know how much I care, how much I want to help.  In this maybe slightly slower market, get busy.  Be useful.  If it's not your job, don't worry.  Another Realtor will be happy to help.  As for me... I'm on my client's team.  Whatever they need, I'm there.

You certainly are full service. I don't mind doing anything you mentioned except the dusting and vacuuming - that's where I draw the line!

Good Job!! It is always nice to raise the bar just a little higher!!

Hey Jim!  Not to be sexist, but I haven't met a man yet that likes to dust and vacuum!  Or a woman either, for that matter.  It just has to get done sometime!

Whatever works for you Susan, I say go for it.  You have to be a bit careful sometimes to not be taken advantage of by someone who doesn't appreciate how hard you are working for them.  Take care

I met an insurance adjuster this morning on one of my vacant listings - this is something I do to help out of state sellers....but clean house....nahhhhhhhhhhhh.

Susan, I feel the same way.  I do whatever it takes to make my client's life easier.  Because of that I can say the majority of my business is referrals.  I have also vacuumed and dusted!! Good for you!

Great job....you are full service for sure....that's how everyone in every profession should be.  We should all be commission huh?

Good for you! Unfortunately, when working as a buyer's agent we seem to be seeing fewer seller's agents who go the extra mile for their clients.

You sound LIKE ME... I've always been told that I marry each and everyone of my clients!! I truly enjoy helping them with whatever is needed. Selling properties in a Resort community many of the homes are second homes and the clients live out of town, so needless to say, many things can come up while they are gone.. So who better to help than the one that helped them find this special home..

Several years ago, I did a final walk through with my buyer and found that the attic was still filled with hundreds of empty boxes.  The owner lived out of state so they couldn't get rid of the trash.  So, the listing agent (We were at the same company at the time), the owner of our brokerage, and I broke down boxes for about 3-4 hours and filled an entire 40 ft. dumpster.  We closed the next day without a hitch, and I would do it again because my clients love me for it

Yes.... the owner of an 85-90 agent office was there helping us and he paid for the dumpster.  He knows the value of providing excellent service to clients as well.  How many of your brokers would do that?

I must agree, going the extra mile will help, not only in the current transaction, but with reputation and referrals as well.

That's pretty much our business model too. Seems to work, and when it doesn't, we sometimes know and are good a drawing the line. But yours is the attitude to have. All of the time.

I agree. Providing good service and going the extra mile are key ingredients for repeat business and getting referrals.

I love doing whatever I can to assist.  Customer service really does mean serving customers.  I don't have a problem rolling up my sleeves to get things done.

That is an excellent attitude to have!  It shows that you are willing to go the extra mile for your clients and that you are truly a team.  Great job!

It's a wonderful way to run a business isn't it. Offering your help and services brings joy to not only your clients but to yourself as well. I have scrubbed, cleaned, rearranged, shopped, picked up mail, newspapers, pet sit, the list is endless and I wouldn't have it any other way. Great post

Susan, It is good to see that you truly go the extra mile for your clients.  I sometimes feel that I do too much for my buyers and sellers but I think it pays off.

It works great as long as the client doesn't take too many bites from the "my real estate agent will do anything for me" apple.  There are those 20% who will gobble up 80% of your time, and you have to watch out that you aren't taken advantage of in an excessive way.

Now that is Service!!! Not many people truly go the extra mile like you do! Great Job!

Keep up the great job!  The key to sucess is SERVICE!  Anyone can put a sign in the yard but not everyone can give outstanding service!
