moneyHelpful Hints about Qassia. Initially it's a race against the clock for money*.

Me on Qassia  http://maureenmccabe.qassia.com/ I am using a different photo than the default tattoed  tummy now.

1. Invite every one you know quickly (called referrals on Qassia.)

2. Don't worry about the tattoed tummy... (It's Maureen Francis... she said so) just  send out referrals quick... once you have sent out a bunch of referrals worry about the belly image with the tattoo or don't. I am usually pretty pokey about profiles but the tattoed tummy made me put up a simple profile quick with another photo.  I join social networks on reflex.  Setting up the profile or participating is another story.

3. Twitter the referral link (your link) if you have followers on Twitter. I did.

MaureenMcCabe Top secret new social media beta... by invitaton only... hush hush... letting you in on the secret.. http://maureenmccabe.qassia.com/ 08:14 AM March 05, 2008 from web Icon_star_empty Icon_trash

4. Do an ActiveRain post providing some more info about Qassia with your Qassia link for your associates and subscribers. I did.

If ActiveRain Points were money?

5. Post about Qassia on your local blog with your link. Qassia is NOT just real estate. Local bloggers and non bloggers ... anyone with an interest in Web 2.0, social media can use Qassia. I did not do this. I still should.

6. Set up emails with your Qassia link and refer everyone you know who is interested in Web 2.0. Unless you feel this is spamming.... I did it.

7. Read  the info you need about how Qassia works, before joining if you will be reluctant to refer people unless you understand Qassia and can explain it... thats never stopped me.  I did not know ActiveRain was blogging when I invited Maureen Francis, Bonnie Erickson, Elaine Reese, my manager and a bunch of blogging buddies

8. Add your blogs and websites to Qassia.  I did.  I added one website, two blogs and divided the Qassia money up among the sites.  The Qassia directory, I will buy placement with my bucks... if I understand this correctly.

9.  Don't worry about Qassia or any other sites if ActiveRain is all you need... don't even bother with a comment here thanks...

10. Remember Qassia is by invitation only!  ;- )

*Right now the Qassia referrals accepted are worth 500 dollars for the first 12 hours YOU are a member.  The second 12 hours you are a member the referrals are worth 200 dollars. The normal is only 100 dollars now.  Like ActiveRain in the beginning Qassia probably will be changing what they give points dollars for.

I had no idea when I joined. I had to be out the door an hour later and would be gone about 9 hours. Even so I have made 6500 dollars now just by referring. That money is used to advertise the links... to my blogs and website.

This is what it says on the default profile (with the tattoed tummy) until you update:

"Hi! Welcome to my profile page at Qassia, the most amazing resource ever. Wanna join Qassia? All you need to do is click on "Sign Up".

Qassia is fantastic because you get credit for sharing your intelligence. The more credit you earn, the better your websites will rank. And you get a backlink to your website for every intel you add - only Qassia gives you unlimited quality backlinks.

Last but not least, Qassia also has the best ad revenue sharing system on the Internet, so in effect you get paid for promoting your websites. Qassia rocks!

The more people join Qassia, the more everyone will benefit, so give Qassia a spin. Signing up takes less than a minute, so you've got nothing to lose. See ya around! "

Maureen, how did you get the photo that you have on Quassia to be smaller?  Everyone I upload is so darned huge, even when I click on the "thumbnail" version.  (I had to laugh at the image with the belly showing pose:-)

Maureen,

My posting board above my computer is full of all the sites that I have joined. Yet I found room for one more site and its login codes.

Much like you though I do not know when I will have a chance to get back to it. Signed up none the less.

Bill what you shared in your comment was part of this post originally quoting you from the email you sent me when you joined.  I had not paid attention to the page rank until reading your email... I had to cut out some of the post though, so I am glad you were the first to comment.

I wondered why all the photos I saw were so large.  I thought "REALTORS!!!!"  Doesn't it let you size it?  I don't remember....  I must have used a small photo.  Jason I saw a booger in someones nose but I have not been on your Qassia profile  so it may be a system feature...  kidding.

Thanks all for the comments.

I went throuugh a couple of weeks ago and tried to put something on the profiles on all of the social media sites I have joined, fill out the profile.

I signed up a week or so ago but have not time to investigate much of it. I did add my website and invite others during that 12 hour clock count down. I like the list of action steps you wrote here in your post. I will bookmark this and start to follow up with some of the action steps. Katerina

Thanks Maureen. I just joined earlier today, so it was nice to see more of an explanation in your post. I also like the idea of a bulletin board reminder of everything I'm on. I've been meaning to do something like that since the first of the year. I have a folder, but an instant visual wold be better.

Thanks for the comments all. Stephen pace yourself! It can be overwhelming.

I am off to do my first intel I think. I am nervous.  I was that way on AR too at first although I've been blogging since 2005.

my first Intel on Qassia

http://www.qassia.com/mama.pl?a=intelshow&i=12395

I hope I did it right.  I am not real good at reading directions...

I know this would be better with photos but I have a thing about photos. I removed all my photos from Localism.

Hi Maureen - I joined a couple of days ago as well.  I haven't yet posted any intel - wasn't sure about that, but probably will take that leap since you did.  I'll go check yours out and then see what I have that might work for my own intel.

Thanks for the nudge!
Ann

Referrals:$6,800
Intel:$150
Screenings:$0
Net worth:Q$6,950

I made 150 dollars  on my first Intel... talking about the blizzard of 2008 and I was able to link to the entry about the blizzard on ColumbusBestBlog.com with a link that is NOT no follow.  Not that there is a lot of traffic from Qassia now...

I could have reposted something I wrote on one of my blogs too.  It would not be worth as much...

I like the way it prompts you for geographic tags.

Thanks for the comments ladies.

Have you  added any intel to  Qassia?   Backlinks  are starting to kick in according to Qassia:

"Some good news for a change. We noticed that, quite unexpectedly since Qassia is still in closed beta, the backlinks from intel pages on Qassia are starting to have an effect. We discovered this while doing some unrelated research - we came across a number of backlinks originating from intel added in January, causing a noticeable effect at Yahoo!.

This means that users who have added intel can expect their backlinks at Qassia to function as advertised, and to kick in not long after we come out of private beta. Keep on submitting intel, everybody - your hard work will all pay off soon enough."

I have only added two pieces of Intel personally and it would have been in early March   Above is on Qassia today along with other announcements.

Just Curious?  Did any of you READ the terms you had to agree to?  I did and it made me uneasy.

I did.  Have you read terms on other social media?   What makes you uneasy?

Maureen,      Maybe it is nothing but I don't like saying I will abide by the laws of another country when I don't even know the laws of that country.  When you agree to the terms, this is what you are agreeing to.

I also don't like the idea of writing personal things about the people I know and getting money (play money) for it.  It seems wrong to me.  If you read the "types of intel" It says things like this.  What value is there in telling everyone that someone drinks wine, or what someone's favorite food is, etc.  These were examples.    Did this hit you like this?  It just didn't seem right to me.

Xenophobia?

I am not going to even address the second paragraph because it's such sheer nonsense.

Or maybe I will, she's taking one suggestion, for Intel, talk about people out of all they gave:

Share Your Intel also includes:

"Or you can add intel about companies. Talk about...

Or you can add intel about places, such as...

You can even add intel about products, for example...

Of course, if you want and if you have the knowledge, you can also add more typical stuff found at other knowledge bases and websites. Describe a device. Or dispense advice. Share some local news. Or some global news. Write a scientific paper, replete with footnotes. Or just transcribe some notes scribbled on the back of a napkin."

You can find advice from blogging gurus that says "talk about people"   ... I've added on Intel on... the weather and I can't remember the second one what I wrote about... It's about Columbus... or Central Ohio but I can't remember what the topic was.
