I came in this morning thinking I was going to write some big awesome blog about some really important issue...and was listening to my Pandora radio on my computer when a song came on that made me think of this topic...

Are bloggers and my fellow RainBrains social networking geniuses and far ahead of our time???  Or merely internet junkies with renegade spirits and a need to be deemed as intelligent by the masses based on our ability to create some clever prose?

Interesting question isnt it?

And, to be honest, I say its a bit of both...but, not for the reasons you may think.  It is obvious to me -- and Im sure it is to those of you that blog frequently -- that the benefits of doing this far outweigh the time involved in doing the actual activity of blogging.  From search engine rankings and new clients off of it...to the social network itself and the basic building blocks of a successful business through peers, the potential for advancement is apparent to us.  So, from that standpoint, we are 76,000+ strong minded power keystrokers with a like minded acceptance of the fact that this is going to make us money.  Whether that be directly or indirectly related, we see the relationship that is there.  (And this half of the topic has been hashed and re-hashed so many times on AR, Im not going to continue to beat this horse here.)

But, a renegade??  Now, Im not saying that we are all running around in our 3 piece power suits with anarchy symbols stitched into the shoulders in some "Office Space" version of "Mad Max" or anything, but the fact of the matter is that we are truly the spark that is igniting a fire.

Renegades are usually percieved as having some sort of cause...some cause that in some way flies in the face of the norm...but ultimately is for the greater good.  Well, that is blogging.  Take a look around you...15 years ago, how many of your peers had a website when you did??  Were you a renegade back then???...cause no one else had a website!!  No one needed one.  Right?  "You cant do business on the internet" they would scoff...."Thats just a great big toy."  Now, everyone and their dog has a website.  And everyone knows that there is more business done on the net than ever before...from books to booze, xray film to xylaphones.

But you!  Now, you found this new thing...this power that they didnt.  This blogging thing...And you use this power to your greatest advantage all the while explaining to them how wonderful it is and that they should also do it.  But, they dont...they dont need to do this blogging stuff....they already have a website.  (At this point, I would insert a good dose of laughter.)

Renegades change the world.  They always have.  Those folks tossing tea in Boston...the protestors tearing down the Berlin wall...the Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and Warren Buffets of the world...and now you and all of us in this little social experiment known as ActiveRain.  Renegades of the world...UNITE!

All I know is that I have a mountain of paper work, both real estate related and personal behind me on my dining room table/desk and my back is to it while I sit and read and write blogs.  Social Networking Genius?  Maybe not today, but some days!

The many reasons you listed above for blogging are all true and accurate in my opinion, but I'll give you one more reason I blog:  I ENJOY it!  While my husband is unwinding in front of the TV, I'm sitting on the couch with my laptop blogging.  It's my way of relaxing.  I get so much from agents' blogs, and I'm truly putting many of their great ideas into practice.  And I hope from time to time I'm writing something worthy of reading.

So GLAD someone turned me onto this.  I'm lovin' it!

Jacki -- Yes!  Me too!!!  In fact, I show up early for work just so I can blog before my 'shift' starts.  It's an addiction.

April -- I am an addict in the truest form...And happy to admit it.  :-)  With the number of agents that are active in the country and in Canada...you can bet that the 76,500  or so on here are definitly ahead of the pack!  Thanks for the comments!
