As I neared my Cape Cod from a week of traveling I couldn't help wondering if this is what it is like for our home buyers?  That exhilaration of the familiar, the roof over their heads, contol over our space.   A place to belong and call their own.   This is what makes home buying such an emotional experience.  People need to feel that they can LIVE there.   I love living on Cape Cod.   I am eternally grateful for the life Real Estate has given me.  I challenge you to think about how happy you are to come HOME after a time away and what that feels like. And if you aren't Happy to Come HOME...MOVE!  This is what we deliver to our home buyers... that sense of peace, belonging, comfort.   There is nothing like Home sweet Home.  While in Vero Beach Florida my husband and I looked at retirement property... We had some interesting conversations after meeting with the realtors.   Like how unfriendly the people were at the local Publix (grocery store).   How rude the bartender was when we retrieved our drinks...?   Could we live in an unfriendly neighbor hood?   Our decision to wait on buying wasn't based on the properties, the realtor or the "future" but more on community...Did we fit?   I don't think so....

Hey, Annie, I lived in Vero Beach recently. It lasted only a short while. I think you made the right move. If you want a place in the sun look over on the West Coast of Florida in Naples or Sarasota.

Hi Annie,

Sorry you vacationed in an unfriendly area. We have been there too. Many folks have. Our Community, Sun City Center, Florida is a friendly one. We loved it the first time we entered and some fifteen years later still do. We enjoy the same "Going Home" excitement you did returning from your vacation.

Your advice and observations are good ones.

My husband cautions me on being too judgemental ...Vero is at the end of its tourist season...the service industry is exhausted, grumpy maybe?   but still.... When I mentioned it to our Realtor....he said...(which concerned me) "signs of south florida creeping up the coast".   Now, we are not florida people, but his retort felt very much like there was a fungus, infection, mold on the horizon that we were not necessarily keen on being in the way of.... Be careful how what you say is heard.... thanks for your insights...Annie
