To Be or Not to Be Featured - 2nd Attempt

Sorry folks my original post got zapped off the Active Rain system.  It is out there in cyberspace!  It was either zapped by the Menehunes (tiny mischievous Hawaiian characters, similar to Leprechauns) or I bumped the wrong key falling asleep at the computer.  Don't know what happened, so I am trying it again.  If you had previously sent me your pick to be featured here, please resend it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------Gold Star

This is a topic that comes up from time to time here on Active Rain.

Many times we write a post that we feel is a home run hit, to have it get a few responses and not get picked by the Active rain Gods as a featured post.

Other times we read or write a post that we feel is Ok, but nothing special to have it get tons of response and the GOLD STAR!

I want to try something different today.  If you have a post and want it to be featured (even if only on this post) please post the link below.  I will add it for the other members to get another look at it.

Please do not limit it to your own posts.  If you have read a great post that did not get the recognition it should, link it here.  There are many new members who may not get as noticed when they first join.  Hopefully this will be a vehicle to get them a little better noticed.

Let me start with one of my personal favorites from last May that still gets comments:

First Time Buyers: Not Using A REALTOR®? You May Wish to Reconsider...

Darleen has written a number of excellent articles, and I've got a lot of favorites.   But I especially like this easy-to-read guide on why an agent should be involved in the homebuying process.

Penny - A very nice addition to our list.

Nick - Thanks for coming back.

Norma - Please feel free to add one of your favorites.

Randy, I liked your term menehunes!  Maybe that is what has happened to a few things I have lost. I have a question for you though, last night I posted 2 blogs and I posted them to localism because I thought they were relevant, but looking back, I guess they weren't.  But, anyway, can I repost them and put them back up on the regular groups and then get the points?  Or do I just lose out, period? Vickie

03/07/2008 02:28 PM by Owensboro,Kentucky- Real Estate-Vickie McCartney,Broker,ASP,ABR,E-Pro (Home Realty GMAC RealEstate,Owensboro,KY)

Vickie - I think you can change the settings in the post.  You still get points for localism posts either way, unless there was a change.

Nice idea, Randy.  I wrote a blog earlier this week, and Jason did feature it in his group, Family Ties.  Even so, it got very little notice from ActiveRainers - I thought it was a TOPIC worth featuring, if not a blog post worth feaaturing, because the topic is so very timely.  It's about the tenants out there who pay their rent on time for months and years on end, only to get evicted when their landlord is foreclosued upon:  Tenants Faced With Foreclosure - Lives Turned Upside Down

03/07/2008 05:18 PM by Margaret Woda, Maryland REALTOR (RE/MAX VISION)

Randy I see the two that I suggested made it into your blog before you fell asleep at the keyboard and zapped the blog ............ LOL

Thanks for adding Ed's blog, he is new to the site and would be encouraged by some comments.

03/07/2008 05:24 PM by George Souto (McCue Mortgage Co.)

Rob - A very great post, but it was already featured.  Do you have one that you feel should have been featured and got overlooked?

Margaret - I have added your post.  I just heard a similar story from someone I know.  Her security deposit is also now an issue.

George - I still had them on my Word document.

What an awesome idea, Randy!  I've read a ton of great posts that should have been featured but with 70K members vying for that little gold star, unfortunately some get lost in the shuffle.

Hi Randy, great idea...I will think about it and get back to you.  How long are you going to have this up?  It's great especially for some newer people, I read one today, and it only had 3 comments and was really good, I will try to find it.  Liz

I like the idea.  You don't have time to read them all so it is good to see them in one spot.  Thanks.

Randy, I saw so much negativity regarding short sales on the blogs.  We have some Realtors that we've helped that are having the best production they've seen in years because of the opportunities.  I tried to do an inspirational post but it didn't seem helpful.  Any thoughts?

Neal - My websites are back up finally.  The e-mails are at least sending error messages back to the senders.  I am hoping they will be up soon.

Georgina - It may have been me, I am not sure.  I fell alseep at the computer, so I may have accidentally hit the wrong key.

Sally - Thank you, I will add it back in.

Randy, how thoughtful of you. This blog may not be worth featuring, but it could be very important for some REALTORS that may have a hard time saying "no" to flashy sales presentations.
