One of the things my daughter, Heather, and I like to do is watch our favorite movies together - over and over again, and then quote the best lines to each other. From "Steel Magnolias", for instance, I'll tell her, "I love ya more than my luggage!" and she'll yell back, "You're too twisted for color TV!"
When it comes to life lessons that can be learned from movies, one that has stuck with me for years comes right out of one of my all-time favorites, "Out of Africa". When Baroness Karen Blixen-Finecke (played by movie icon Meryl Streep) finds that her coffee crop has burned up in a fire, she simply states,

"Perhaps He (God) knew, as I did not, that the world was made round so we don't see too far down the road."
And shouldn't we be grateful for that? By leading us, just one small step at a time, into our future, it makes it imperative that we lean on God for our guidance and direction.
How does this translate to selling real estate? Okay, I admit, I'd love sometimes to be able to see at least a few hundred yards down the road. Are these people really going to list with us or choose someone else? Are they going to list it at the right price? Is this going to be a good fit, or are they going to be difficult clients to work with? Will the house sell?
If life were that easy this job would be a breeze, wouldn't it? We could control our own destiny. Manipulate our own universe. And we wouldn't need God.
Life would also be very predictable and boring, too. Nothing to strive for. No challenges. No mystery. I'd much rather F.R.O.G. it (Fully Rely on God) !
In these precarious, totally unpredictable times, we need more than ever to keep our focus on Jesus. We don't know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future. And we hold on tight to Jeremiah 29:11:
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future."
