Valparaiso Crusader's Cinderella Story Continues in Horizion League Tourney as they Knock-Off #3 Seed Wright State for the 2nd time in a week !

As I have been saying for 6 weeks now, it is ONE GAME AT A TIME ! That is exactly what the Valparaiso Crusaders have been doing. Playing one game at a time and WINNING one game at a time! As they did again last night in Indianapolis, IN at the Famous Hinkle Fieldhouse. They knocked-off the #3 seed Wright State Raiders to advance to the Semi-Finals of the HORIZON LEAGUE TOURNAMENT today at 4:30 EST against Cleveland State Vikings, in what will be a sold out hyped-up arena!

Valparaiso started out the game HOT, going up 5-0 on Wright State. But, as with any good team, Wright State stayed patient and played an extremely well planned out game. They went into Half-time up 38-37. The second half was back and forth with numerous lead changes and numerous runs by each team and as I have said all year long, it would come down to free-throws. That is exactly what propelled the V.U. Crusaders to a 72-67 win! ONE MORE WIN will earn them a chance to play Tuesday for the Horizon League Championship..BUT....It's march, and IT"S ONE GAME AT A TIME!!!

Last night Valpo senior Shawn Huff continued his presence with 21 points and hit some HUGE, KEY 3 pointers down the stretch! He was followed up by Urule Igbavoda's 17 points, Brandon McPhersons's 16 points and senior Jarryd Loyd finished the game with 14 points and sank all 4 free-throws at the end of the game as that sealed the win for Valparaiso!Wright State had 2 players each with 15 points, Scottie Wilson and Jordan Pleiman, who both performed incredible as well. The Crusader's finished the game shooting 84.2% from the Charity Line, 46.2% from the field, and 27.6% from behind the ARC ! Add all these stats up and you can see why they ended up with a 72-67 WIN!

So now it is on to the Semi-Final Game TODAY on ESPN U  @ 4:30pm EST gainst Cleveland State. (Due to the flu that hit me last nite I will not be able to attend this game :(- BUT, I will be glued to the T.V. staring at 4:29pm:). Valpo needs to duplicate exactly what they did last night and focus on this one game. The season series belonged to Cleveland State in a nail bitter on their home court.  But this is March. This, this is March Madness. This is when all the weird and wild things in college basketball happen. This is the time where the Cinderella Team is made and for the University of Valparaiso Crusaders IT IS ALL POSSIBLE !

So, it is once again, simple. You win, you play another day.You lose, season over. Looking into the eyes of Seniors Huff and Loyd last night (as well as the rest of this team), they have the fire and the desire to want to play another day, AND another game! By 6:30pm tonight we will know just IF - IF the Crusaders Magical Post-Season run will continue.  

GO VALPO - BEAT CLEVELAND STATE !
