Real Living e Card spring forward

Time change

Did you remember to set your clock ahead? Last night / this morning was the night to "Spring Forward" Of course spring is still twelve days away.

Spring is just around the corner, robins, butterflies, daffodils... How many snows do we still have after the forsythia blooms?

I reminded the readers of Discover Columbus about it earlier this week... Spring Forward Central Ohio

The spring forward image here is a Real Living e-card.

The blizzard of 2008

If you live in Central Ohio you know it does not feel like spring now. We had a snow storm on Friday and Saturday. A historic snow storm. A blizzard. The Columbus Dispatch on the blizzard of '08, Saturday Mid Day:

It's Nasty out there.

The City of Columbus was never above a Level 2...snow emergency or at least the parts that are in Franklin County, the majority of the city. I forget that the Polaris area is City of Columbus and is in Delaware County. Franklin County, Ohio was level 2 snow emergency. Delaware County, Ohio was a level 3 snow emergency.

The airport stayed open throughout the blizzard despite plane skidding off the runway as it landed at Port Columbus on Friday night. No one was hurt. 12 days and counting...

Remember spring is just around the corner for Central Ohio, robins, butterflies, daffodils... The image is from Real Living. I am associated with Real Living.

Hi Maureen - I have a sister who lives in the Dayton area, and she said the roads all around her had been closed down, and that the amount of snow they got exceeded what was predicted.  And now they're dealing with drifting and blowing snow.  Nope, not spring-like at all, that's for sure!

Ann I Twitter with a bunch of Daytonians so I was talking storm with them yesterday.  Of course I follow Teri Lussier (@TeriLussssier) who reported the sun came out yesterday afternoon there (and here a bit later),  Gina Kay Landis who is also a Realtor and a member here... and Chris Anderson who I met through a Columbus food blogger who Twitters. Chris Anderson grew up in Columbus.

Then there was Rocky (@Rockson) and Toby (@RealtorToby) who are in the county north of me, which was a level 3 snow emergency ... my two other blogs both got entries about Twittering through the storm.

Eastbound ineterstate 70 between Columbus and Dayton was shut down for part of the day because of accidnets because of white outs.

We had a clock setting back incident ...

I miss those blizzards when I live in NY...walking miles in the deep snow and I actually enjoyed blowing the snow and playing with Mr. Snowman...now all I wake up to is sun and fun! I don't miss the dangers of driving and sliding into curbs as I did many times in my teens.

Hope they get those roads cleared!  I have to be down there on Tuesday!  LOL  I've been watching the news and it looks like your area got the worst of it.  Stay warm!

The weather sounds rough.  I did remember to set my clock forward (at least the one by my bed).  Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of staying up later than usual on this night.

The blizzard of '08 made yesterday quite interesting (not that I want it to last-just made the most of it while it was here). Took the kids sledding, on the way we saw some cc skiers, lots of snowmobiles, and dozens of snow plows. But today, I'm staying in and eating chili!

Lookind forward to Spring, my daffodils, tulips, and hyacinth have already tried to come up...they were confused when we had the unseasonably warm weather recently. I'll probably have to start over with my spring bulbs :(

At a first glance of the clock this morning, I thought to myself "O I'm getting an early start, Sweeeeet!" Then I remembered to Spring Forward. Looks like I'll be up late tonight!

Hi Maureen - Long blizzards can be hard - being stuck inside so long.  But that is how I found AR last year!  Stay Warm!

We got  a record 20.4 inches, the standing record for Columbus was 15.3 from 1910.

We went to Michigan Sunday. Northern Franklin County (where I live) and the next two counties north, Delaware County and Marion County were the worst we drove through.  Driving back the pavement on Route 23 was better on Sunday night than it had been on the drive up Sunday morning.

Ironically although we had an elaborate plan of action and set the clock to get up early for church (all Saturday services were canceled) my significant other  who was in charge of the clock does not read my blogs and  we did not set our clock forward so we missed church...

Carol where are you going on Tuesday?  You may still run into unplowed streets.  We had to get into the ruts in the snow on Saturday evening when we drove to church in  Worthington. By Sunday night when we got back the streets off the main streets the snow was packed down.

Many schools are still closed here because the residential streets are not clear. Often after storms it is the rural school districts in outlying counties that cancel school but today  Columbus, Worthington, Dublin, Gahanna... are canceled.

Thanks all for the comments.

We are going to be up to 50 degrees?  in the 50's?   later this week... Flooding?
