Irmo, South Carolina Home Values Are Ignoring National Media Reports

Are you looking to make a move from the cold, snowy Midwest? Do you desire a warmer climate with southern hospitality? Do you want to make a good investment with your next real estate purchase? Then, I would recommend taking a look at relocating to Irmo, South Carolina.

Irmo is a larger Northwest suburb of Columbia, the state capitol of South Carolina. CNN Money has recognized Irmo as one of the Top 12 towns with affordable homes where their residents "see their incomes go the furthest".

Irmo is nestled next to Columbiana Centre in the Harbison shopping district. More importantly, Irmo's future leaders are educated by the Lexington-Richland Five School District. Lexington-Richland Five is recognized by many as one of the top school districts in the area with ten elementary schools and Irmo and Dutch Fork High Schools.

Another Irmo "Claim to Fame" is the Annual Okra Strut. 35 years ago, the Lake Murray-Irmo Woman's Club gave birth to this event as a fundraiser to build a new library. On September 26 & 27, 2008, the Town of Irmo will expect 60,000 - 100,000 visitors for the event.

With beautiful neighborhoods like Milford Park, the Irmo real estate market has been able to significantly appreciate and hold its value, contrary to the national media reports. According to August 2002 Consolidated MLS data for Area 1, the average sales price at that time was $129,437. In August 2006, that average sales price increased to $150,305. By enduring the doom and gloom that has dominated the major media markets since August 2006, Irmo home prices have held steady to a January 2008 average sales price of $151,822.
