131st Annual Fireman's Association Convention and Parade

Lake Harmony and Albrightsville Volunteer Fire Companies applied to be and were selected as the hosts for the 131St Fireman's ASssociation of Pennsylvania's Convention and Parade in September 2011!  The exact dates are 923 and 9/24/11 (yes it takes that long to get approval and logistics effort underway).  This state-wide event has never been held in the Pocono Mountains and is quite an accomplishment for local volunteers.  State-wide, professional and volunteer fire companies will be sending representatives to this convention, to be held at the Galleria at The Resort at Split Rock.  The parade will feature over 300 poeces of firefighting and rescue apparatus, 3000+ marcing firefighters, marching bands and  more.  The parade route will begin with staging near Big Boulder and proceed along South Lake Dr to The Galleria.  Prizes are awarded in many different categories of apparatus and highly competed for by the various fire companies.   Over 10,000 people are expected for the event.  Put this on your calendar as it will be one to remember.  The event will be a marvelous economic boost to the area while also raising funds for the Fireman's Association of Pa who use the proceeds for their various charitable works.  Congratulate the local volunteers when you see them and contact them if you can be of assitance in the effort or want to be a sponsor.
