I am so excited. We just had a baby shower for my daughter-in-law and my first grandson is coming in early May. (I already have a granddaughter that I totally adore, more on that sometime maybe in another post...)
I guess you can tell from the little booties on that cake that it is a boy that is coming. But, he is going to be my little boy and I get to give him back because that is the privilege of being the grandmother.
Why is it so much more FUN being the grandparent? Isn't it ironic that when the grandchildren come, you actually have a little more money and you even feel like you have time for them. And it doesn't matter what they do, it is just too funny. I just can't wait to see him and hold him and look into his eyes. And whose eyes will he have and what color hair will he have and how big will he be. The million dollar question is WHAT will his name be? Well. as long as he is healthy that is really all that matters, isn't it? I remember when my granddaughter was born, I was only 45 at the time and I did NOT want to be called granny or grandma, or mom-mom, or Nana so I decided I was going to be called Vivi (short for Vickie) well my little granddaughter couldn't pronounce Vivi so it came out Ye-ye and now she introduces me to her friends and her preschool teacher as her Ye-ye and they all look at her like what is a Ye-Ye??? Well, I told her she could go ahead and call me her grandma or whatever and she said, "BUT, you're my YEYE " life is so funny, and grandchildren are even funnier! I wonder what he will call me? I guess it really doesn't matter, just so he calls me ,right?
