There are tips and tricks and ways to avoid loopholes that are very important when purchasing a Seattle foreclosure.  These properties are generally distressed in most cases.  When people can't afford to make their payments they definitely can't afford a new roof or other repairs so deferred maintenance is a major issue.  It is extremely important to get an inspection and ask your REALTOR to look up the history on the property. 

Sometimes detective work is part of the job with REOs.   If the obvious places aren't providing you with info on the house, ask the neighbors.  Nine times out of ten they will know a lot more than the listing agent, plus they are willing to share valuable information!
