There's no argument...  Adlai Stevenson's Highschool debate team  and chess team have a reason  to celebrate!

The 15- member debate team captured top honors as the number 1 debate team in the country at the prestigious Harvard National Congress, last month,Feb 16th to 18th.  The community is very proud of their High School  team for their victory.

The Chess Club also brought home a victory this month  winning its first Illinois High School Association state Championship on Feb 9th and 10th.   The 10 member team beat Barrington High School  for the title.

Congratulations to both these teams.

Judy, congratulations to both teams at Adlai Stevenson. We've had some debate high school teams in our area as well but to the win the national title what an honor. I was actually on a chess team in high school. Kind of nerdy, ya think?? That's between you and me (and the other 77,000 Rainers) now that the secret is out :)

Charlie, Cynthia,Mara, Mike, and Gary- thanks for stopping by- I'm very proud of our high school accomplishments.  Gary, I can believe you were on the chess team.... but not to embaress you anymore, but I would never would  have thought  you were a nerd.

Judy, to take the nerdiness in chess one step further. You remember Star Trek and Spock playing the three dimensional chess on board the starship Enterprise game room? I had one of those too with the three levels you could move the pieces around on. FASCINATING, as Spock would say. It was cool. But probably pretty lame compared to all the electronic games (Playstation and Wii) that all the kids have today. I am glad at Adlai Stevenson the young folks are smart enough to not only do video games. Debate and chess do exercise a disciplined mind. Maybe future lawyers or brilliant Realtors (like yourself) in the crowd : )

Gary, Thanks for the compliment...  Did you notice my spelling error in my last comment.  As a nerdy student with only A's in all my classes throughout grade school, highschool and college- I'm totally  embaressed.

Judy, I probably noticed your spelling error, but Mr. Nice Guy me, would overlook that in a heart beat. I think there are more important things in the world to be worried about. But it's nice to know the adult Ms. Greenberg, the former all A's student in school, is still so hard on herself. That's what makes a good Realtor I think, and a good person. Always striving for excellence. But don't beat yourself up too much on it. We're only human. Wait till we all get really old, we won't remember each others' names. What was your name again honey, was that Jane, Judy, Jill? I sometimes think I'm already getting early dementia when I go to the fridge and can't remember why Im standing there with the door open. LOL.
