You know how some people appear bigger than life. They walk into a room and their energy is over welming? You know the ones who have that lovely balance between being loud and boisterous and soft and kind? You know who I am taliking about? The ones who, no matter where they are... they have a fan club...they know someone in the room or someone knows them... That would be Nancy. Nancy and I were competitors... In the Century 21 family we challenged each other... We are roughly the same age (50's) and have roughly the same life styles. Busy family life, kids to mentor, husbands to feed... you know... And we sell real estate. Nancy fell in to real estate as did I... One of the many career redefinitions in both of our lives. But we Fell... hard. We love Real Estate. Then one night ... I got the call. Nancy had told me she was having her tooth pulled. She had loads of fear around it... I shook it off... "you'll be fine"... as I moved on to the next project. And she was. She has 3 kids... a son and twin girls all pre-teens... He husband is our Town Clerk. Right there, she has the in on listing contacts, don't you think? We would joke all the time... she lit up a room... So, getting back to the call... late one wed night, Nancy died. They kept her on life support until her family could arrive but she had a brain clot after the tooth pull. HOLY SMOKES> This is a bad joke I thought.
Her sister shared a story about Nancy in NYC for her 50th Birthday and how her sister had given her a Tiara and a wand at some famous very crowded restaurant. Nancy, after a couple of drinks, went table to table granting wishes and Knighting the men. Her sister says, that soon, once they sat to eat... new people were coming to the table and kneeling before Nancy to be knighted. She was that powerful... she was that attractive... YOU would have wanted to know her. Today there is a benefit auction, dinner, dance to raise money for her children. I will be there with bells on... I may wear a tiara...
Wow... thank you for sharing. Life is so precious. I am sorry you have lost a friend, my heart goes out to you.
