Ah, duct tape! That marvelous, metallic, multi-use material that become so much a part of our everyday lives. Where would any house hold be without it? If the inventors of had only known of its many uses in and around the home and constructions site, they they might have given it a different name like Wonder Tape! I wonder where we would be with out it? It is great for holding the wheels on cars, the wings on airplanes, the babies sagging diapers up, plumbing repairs and in the hands of a REAL PROFESSIONAL - electrical splices for the water heater.

Boy, I don't know what is wrong with you inspectors!  They must not have taught that rule about fixin' things that says if it's done with duct tape, it's done!  What do they teach in inspection school anyway; you act like everthing should be done all professional and stuff!

Haha, yeah, it's so very crazy the things we come across in the real estate industry.  I'm still stunned when I come across homes in the area with wooden shakes for a roof!  Can people even GET home owners insurance with wooden shakes when the standard in an area is compositiion shingles?

WOW - That is a pretty wild photo.  It scares me all the way here in Ohio.

I don't understand...what is the problem? Duct tape has spurred more creative ideas than anything else...ever!

"Duct Tape" the 100 mile per hour wonder. It's uses are endless. I never read anything about the safety of its use, however.

Great photo as always.

wow....Looks like a true professional taped up those wires, not only did he use duct tape but he put it on loosely. Thanks for the laugh.

Michael:  I'm sorry, I don't understand what's wrong with the photos?!!  LOL -- It is amazing what you find during an inspection isn't it?!  Thank goodness for inspectors!

Given it's original purpose, is duct tape ok when it is used to seal joints in duct work? Amusingly, some manufacturers call the product DUCK TAPE. Do they mean duck and run?

As a buyer, if I saw something like that, I think I would have to really think about looking further.
Who knows what might be hidden in the walls.  LOL  Could be the rest of the Duck.

I know for a fact it is conductive!  I had to splice a screw gun on a jobsite and the only thing I could find was duct tape.  I got a jolt better than my morning coffee.

And the stuff is no good for ducts....go figure.

Michael, one time I lost the bottom "wish bone" connection to my front wheel.  Without this connection the tire lays out flat and looks wrong as all get out.  I was able to jack the car up put the wishbone and wheel in proper position and then duct tape it all together long enough to get me out of the boonies and to a repair shop.  Getting home from the repair shop with 3 kids was way more difficult to achieve.

Michael - This is great!  Very creative uses for duct tape!

A little off topic but had to share this anyways...

In the Army they have "green" duct tape.  My son actually used it to tape his broken foot.

He will also use duct tape for anything and everything...thankfully, he isn't a homeowner yet :-)

I'm not surprised, I actually see this a lot. I think most people intent to tape it temporarily, and then they forget to do it the right way. Or maybe I'm just being nice.

In the Navy we called it 500 mile an hour tape.  A plane would come in with a hole in it, we put duct tape on and sent it back out.  As long as it flew less than 500mph it was good to go.

Duct tape not just for Nascar anymore!! What would we do without this stuff anyway?
