ad pods

Did you know you you can send adverts to mobile phones for FREE using bluetooth marketing also know as proximity advertising

I have just discovered a great new piece of technology that is already being used in Europe.

This is an environmentally friendly way to avertise using digital flyers that are sent to mobile phones that are bluetooth enabled.

This product wil revolutionise advertising for both business advertisers and realtors ...imagine sending out your flyer, message, video, blog or website to the audiences handset...promoting your message.

Imagine you or your  business hitting every passer by with a digital flyer about your company direct to their phone.  By the way this is not just for real estate agents it can be used by all types of businesses.

  • Say I wrote a blog about why I love the Celebration Lifestyle.  You can send this page right from the office or from your car in Celebration.  You can target visitors coming for the car show, art show, or snow time (Celebration is famous for this during the holiday season and we are Florida after ll).

  •   You can send a short video annoucing your latest listing be the first one to see it.

  • You could share the latest market report

This is not spamming as the customer can decide to accept the message or not.  There are lots of other options for it and several different uses which the videos will explain and sizes to fit every budget.

Check it out and let me know what you think.  I have already started sharing this with past customers in business too.

What other uses will you find to make it add to your bottom line?

Watch the videos and you will see just how effective this could be don't miss the one about the night clubs it shows some of the advanced techniques.

You can watch all the videos about this and learn more about this  powerful product you may have an i-pod but will you move forward to another called an ad-pod.

 Enjoy.

It is not spamming?  Does this mean that advertising will not show up on my phone unless I let it? If I have to decide whether to 'accept' it or not:  It is spam. Junk mail. Unwanted intrusion. You get the idea.

Sounds like spamming to me as well.  Cool idea though.

Paul and David,

Thanks for sharing your opinion.  It is not spaming a customer can decide to choose or not the same way you would use caller id you can answer or not up to you.  If you choose to answer it is considered opt in.  One of the biggest newspapers in the UK have bought this technology and many businesses outside real estate are also seeing the benefits.  from clubs to restaruants.  Social media is changing the way we communicate this is just one choice that is here.

If there were any way I could block it - I would. It is just another unwanted intrusion. Since there apparently isn't any way for me to block it , it is the same as any junk mail. Annoying.  Let me put it this way - I'll look negatively on anyone who uses it.   By the way, I'm on the do not call list.  If they come up with a list for this kind of junk too, then let those who really want it (are there any) have it and leave the rest of us in peace.

Well Paul that is your choice I just got off the phone with someone who had an enquiry and said I would have saved her ages of time if she could have got the answer to her question this way.  Everyone is entitled to an opinion what works for some doesn't work for others.

I can't help it...my first thought was, OMG - now I'm gonna get junk mail ads on my phone.  When will it stop?

Sorry...don't mean to blame you.  Just don't think it's such a good idea.

Bob,

I can respect your opinion on this but there are others.  Especially when something is new it is hard to see all the options and choices.  Just ask someone learning all their cell phone options.

The technology is here and it will be used and improved upon there is a real estate version coming out too.  Whether you use it or not is your choice.  There are already businessmen that love it and see the value.  The communications  style is already changing..just look at the young people of today on facebook and the apps they use, if someone wants to opt in they can or just ignore the messages.  Like it or not it is here and changing the way we communicate.

Yes, Teri and like it or not people that insist on being rude enough to use that method will have the same reputation as those who send spam email.  But hey, if that is the only way you can make a few bucks I guess the rest of us will just suffer for it.

Paul,

I take the remark about a few bucks and being rude as a personal attack and don't think this is the forum in which to display this type of behavior.  I have 200 listings outside the USA if you would like to take a look visit our website there are plenty of ways to make money in real estate and this was just a technology I thought the active rain community would find interesting.  By the way I have had several emails off this list about it too.  I was respectful with my replies to you and expect any professional to do the same.

3:28pm • #9

I'm sorry if you think my belief is rude.  Basically, you appear to be trying to market a product that is not real estate and if you are as successful (In real estate) as you stated I can't for the life of me see why you would want anything to do with it. I don't know what kind of a response you thought you would get here.  If, as you say, others have a different opinion they can very well state it here.  For my part, if I can do ANYTHING to convince even one person that what you are promoting is a bad thing  I will feel that I have done a good deed.

The product you are promoting is the kind of product spam filters, popup blockers, do not call lists, do not fax legislation, etc were developed to help people avoid.  Why on earth would you let it be known that you support such a product?

So it is sent by bluetooth? Don't you have to be near the device to communicate by bluetooth? or is it a text that is sent?

Yes it is sent by bluetooth technology.  Yes there is a range if you watch the video on the site it will explain this in more detail.  I am not sure about the how but just know I have heard great things about it from friends in the UK.  There is a range which they talk about for each one of the options.

As for Paul, what can I say you are entitled to your opinion.   I look at this last comment again as a personal attack.  How would you feel if someone said "if I could stop just one person from working with you or exploring a new idea you promoted"  It was the method of what and how you expressed it that I didn't agree with.

As with all new technology it is a learning curve when you are green you grow and ripe you rot.  Enough said.  If you continue to personally attack me I will contact the owners of active rain.  Good grief this was just a post about new technology you expressed your opinion I accepted it.

Forums can be nasty places that seem to breed people who pontificate with no knowledge nor substance.

This thread is in need of some facts.

FACT 1

Bluetooth marketing is not spam.
The reason being you have to say yes to receive anything. It does not randomly load things on anyone's phone.

FACT 2

Bluetooth Marketing is also called PROXIMITY marketing.

This means it sends messages to people within the area of the unit.

PRACTICAL uses for estate agents.....lets say you have a high street store, naturally you will have posters in your window showing your properties......if you had a sign next to the property that said this

"if you want details of this property turn on your phones Bluetooth and it will be sent to your phone"

You could then send a paperless flyer to that persons handset

Which would save you money, help the environment and it would allow you to get your property information into potential clients hands 24 hours a day even when you were closed!

There are many great uses for this technology if you are open minded enough to listen and learn and also be creative with your advertising.

Personally I would hate anyone to be put off looking into this technology because of negative comments by ill informed people.

Sure after they read this they will probably try to come up with a stream of reasons why they are right but that is because most negative people on forums and blogs are professional moaners who hide behind their pc's

Personally I like to deal in facts........below are case studies and examples of big corporate clients using this technology to great effect.

----------------------------------------------------------

CHANNEL 4 & LONDON UNDERGROUND

Channel 4 was the first advertiser to sign up to a new series of poster sites on the London Underground that lets a user download content to their phone using Bluetooth technology.

The poster network covers 15 six-sheet poster sites at stations in central London. Channel 4 is using the posters to promote FourDocs, its broadband documentary channel that encourages the public to view and make their own four-minute documentaries.

Bluetooth posters are a new and exciting way of advertising your product or service. Poster sites are part of our way of life and your cannot go a day without noticing one.

The introduction of Bluetooth Proximity advertising within the Poster unit will increase the awareness of the advertisement and also enhance what the advertisement can deliver.

An hotspot logo on the poster will allow people to download more details about the product or service, it can tell your where your nearest retailer is located or even give you the capability to buy it now either through reverse billing or using Paypals new mobile service.

Bluetooth advertising poster sheet systems come in a variety of sizes and specifications from internal exhibition full lit sytems to outdoor all weather fully lit systems.

LG - CINEMA CHAINS - FOOTBALL STADIUMS

Bluepod Media Signs Exclusive Bluetooth Marketing Rights with Leading Premiership Football Clubs

Bluepod Media, the Bluetooth marketing specialist, is delighted to announce that it has secured exclusive Bluetooth marketing rights at leading football clubs including Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, West Ham, Portsmouth, Wigan Athletic, Wolves and Celtic.

The commercial agreement follows on from successful trials at Portsmouth and Birmingham City football clubs.  It will allow third parties to work with Bluepod Media to create and distribute branded content to football fans within all stadia on match days. The fans pay nothing to enjoy the content whilst brand owners are able to pay on a cost per download basis similar to the cost per click internet model.

At a recent Bluepod Media trial at Portsmouth Football Club, 6,245 Premiership fans opted in to download a movie trailer to their phones via their phone's Bluetooth connection from a total crowd of 20,200.

John Scorah, Managing Director, Bluepod Media: "Brands waste millions of pounds targeting football fans on match days via traditional media which is both uninspiring and not measurable. We now offer brands the opportunity to create a one to one relationship with fans that adds value to their matchday experience."

The total attendance at premiership football clubs last season was 12.9 million people and Bluetooth content provides an enjoyable experience that can fill periods of ‘downtime' in the immediate build up to games and during half time periods when fans are seeking entertainment. Fans can opt-in to receiving free ads and club profiles, fixtures, news and manager notes via their Bluetooth, with ads paid for by advertisers at a pay-per-download rate of between GBP 40p and 70p.

John Scorah: "We are able to run campaigns across the whole Bluepod Media football stadia network simultaneously or independently. The campaigns can be brand driven or linked to specific promotions with local retailers."

This announcement follows on from the exclusive agreement with all Vue, Cineworld and now, Showcase cinemas to provide Bluetooth marketing across over 150 UK cinemas. Bluepod Media recently announced the culmination of a successful Bluetooth campaign promoting the new LG Viewty phone. The campaign was set the aim of achieving 370,000 downloads, which were exceeded by 62,000 to deliver a total of 432,000 within three weeks - ten days ahead of expectations.

Teri,

Thanks for the information and insight into the ad thing.  Personally, my phone for Real Estate is a basic phone, it doesn't play movies, or music of any kind.  I haven't downloaded a ton of ring tones either.  I just need a phone that I can talk to my customers with.  I'm just a basic kind of guy.  But, I do appreciate any new fangled ideas that come up, so please don't stop giving us helpful tips.  I do like high tech stuff, but when it comes to phones, for some reason I hit this brick wall.  LOL.  Gotta get over that I think.  I do like the Iphone though.  Soooooo, who knows, with a couple more sales, I may be contacting you for some insight.  Thanks again Teri.

Anwar appreciate the explanations but for those who believe in abundant uses of technology none is necessary for those who don't none is possible apologies to Thomas Aquinas.  I prefer to look at possibilities and positive approaches.

In the interest of accuracy: (and to avoid a one sided statement )

Teri Said this:  "Imagine you or your  business hitting every passer by with a digital flyer about your company direct to their phone. "

 Bob said this:

"FACT 1

Bluetooth marketing is not spam.
The reason being you have to say yes to receive anything. It does not randomly load things on anyone's phone."

I say these two statements are in conflict and so still believe that if you can hit    "...every passer by with a digital flyer..."   It is still spam.

Paul,

I apologize for my semantics not the usefulness of the technology.  By the way you may want to edit your home page on AR there is some html code inbetween paragraphs.

The point was to introduce something new and useful if you don't want to use it don't.  What works for some may not work for others.

I dont want to jump to any conclusions on whether this will be a great idea or not yet.  I am sure that there will be problems/kinks when it comes out, BUT it would be cool to walk through a mall and get a special message about a store who may have a sale on something I want.  Have to see where this leads.  Good post.  Thanks for the info.

12:36pm • #18

This would be acceptable only if each person can decide they don't want to receive any of this type of advertising via a phone setting.  If the only way is to decide not to accept a particular message it is spam like any other spam.

Wow...I jumped into quite the boiling pot.  While I think this technology is super interesting and has amazing potential to help us out, I am guessing that we aren't "quite there" yet.  Is this a UK company?  Is there a US site?  This sounds terrible, but I couldn't watch the whole video because of the accent....either way:  I believe this has tremendous potential and will keep watch on it for when it becomes more user friendly.  Thanks for the heads up!

Hey Teri:

Did you know that there's a FREE way to list your properties?  No strings attached either.  It's at www.Viscape.com, a social marketplace for vacation homes where you can drive leads to your real estate business for FREE. Viscape's Web 2.0 technology will make other vacation sites obsolete: http://viscape.com/properties/wizard/start.

Thanks for the great post.

Tech advances always bring about new debates on manners & ethics - my thoughts are to follow your gut.  If you feel comfortable using a particular method and whatever perception your intended audience will have...go ahead.  When trying new things though, be prepared for the reactions!

Hmmm, I agree that there are lots of possibilities for this technology.  I can't believe it's been almost a year and I had never heard of it either.

While I can see Paul's point of view, I believe this technology, if used correctly, can be quite useful to us.  As long as we don't randomly hit "send" to anyone around us, as we then become a digital version of the guy on the corner getting 8 bucks an hour to pass out flyers, even if the people can refuse them.

Used responsibly, this is a great tool.  Thanks for the post Teri!

Sounds good and I understand text info is working well right now too but I believe it may go the way of the 1-800 numbers.  The full flyer sounds interesting especially since the buyer would ask for the information.
