Thinking About Dance Classes in Baton Rouge, Louisiana?

You know, I was thinking to myself earlier today that I needed something different in my life. I need some spice and  maybe something zesty! Being a Baton Rouge Real Estate Agent, I love being able to help people find the home of their dreams but you know what else I love to do? I love to dance. Now, I'm not saying that I CAN dance. I have just always loved to dance. I took classes when I was younger but that was about it. Today I started to seriously think about signing up for a Baton Rouge Dance Class.   My first thought was that I would be in a tu tu with a bunch  of three year olds. Heck, they could probably dance better than I could but I would give it my best. There are so many options when looking for a dance company. I was so excited to learn that certain dance studio's offer "Adult" classes. While I'm sure dancing with three year olds would be quite entertaining, I think I'd rather be in a class where I felt more..well, at home. While a good portion of the dance companies were for children, there were also a handful for Adults. I've decided to share all of them. So, lace up your boogie boots and let's get steppin'!!   DANCE COMPANIES Baton Rouge Dance Connection- This company is owned and taught by Jennifer Cothren. She is the director of choreography. She is also a member of the Dance Masters of America. The Baton Rouge Dance Connection is located off of Old Hammond and Sherwood Forest. The classes she offers are: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip-Hop. She caters to the younger crowd. The ages range from toddler to 18 years old.   Dance Club International- The Dance Club offers memberships whether you have a partner or not. This is a great way to get out and socialize, meet new people and make new friends. The Dance Club offers a variety of classes. They have social dance instruction, Ballroom dancing, Country & Western, 50's & 60's, Disco and Free style. The Dance Club is located on Government. This club caters to adults. You'll love it.   Ric Seeling's Club Dance-  This is another great dance facility for adults. The are located off of N. Harrell's Ferry Rd. They offer all areas and levels of partner dancing. What kind of classes do they offer? They have Ballroom, Latin, Country & Western, Cajun/Zydeco, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Jitterbug and Hip-Hop. My main interest is the hip-hop but it's encouraging to know that they basically offer every class that their is.   Tari's School Of Dance- Tari Smith is the owner and the director of this dance school. She has 29 years experience in teaching. She also has a B.A. in Education and is also former captain of and choreographer of the LSU Golden Girls. The staff members are also very experienced. They all have eight years of training. There are classes offered to all ages but I think most of them consist of the younger crowd. They offer Jazz, Cassical Ballet, Tap, Hip-Hop and Lyrical. Tari's School Of Dance is the home of the National Award Winning Competition Team. This studio is located off of Perkins Rd.   Colleen's Studio Of Dance Arts- Colleen's studio is located in Denham Springs. They accept ages 12 months - adult. The studio offers private and semi-private lessons. They also have "Baby & Me" classes. They have cheerleading and dance team preparation, convention and competition opportunities. Boy/Men only classes are offered and adult only classes. The dance classes they offer are Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern, Pointe, Lyrical and Hip-Hop.   Baton Rouge School Of Performing & Fine Arts-This studio caters to younger children that are in love with the fine arts. They are home of the Bubble Gum Productions. The School of Performing & Fine Arts has been open and dancing since 1976.
