I had a customer ask me today, "Should I move or continue to commute?"

WOW! I'm thinking with gas prices as they are, and the traffic in South Florida, it would probably behoove him to move. I mean, waiting in traffic for hour's on end, it cannot make your employer happy that you are "late" every day...and it cannot be good for your car/gas.

How much are you spending a week on gas, to sit in traffic, to be diverted every couple day's due to accidents..I mean, do the numbers.

Would you rather own a property close to where you work, or would you rather pay the rediculous gas prices...

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO PUT/SPEND YOUR MONEY?

I think if you are working over an hour from your job and it is taking you 2 hour's a day to get there...move!

Instead of spending the money on the gas for your car, gain equity in the long term by buying a home closer to your job?

What do the rest of you, my respected agents think?

Maybe instead of selling him a home you could take the client to get one of those Hybrid cars... the sticker shock will have him signing the listing agreement in 5 min

Through the beauty of the Internet, I got connected with an Agent out West who developed a, "Cost of Commuting," calculator.  It is fantastic!!!  Try it out ... visit this link, scroll to the bottom of the page, and use it for yourself   http://www.doortodreams.com/buying.htm

I HIGHLY recommend you purchase this calculator and incorporate it into your website.

Eric,

LOL, good point. I like your perspective on this! I hadn't given that any thought, however, the $50. gas bill every 3 day's might work. Thank's for posting. K

Have them use the commuter calculator. With gas nearing 3.25 a gallon, most folks will want to be closer to work.

Jamie,

Gas prices in south Florida are way over $3.25 a gallon...they are close to $3.50.  I fill up my gas tank and it's $50.00 every time... ugh!

Karen, this guy will be calling you when he just gets fed up with the gas prices this spring.  You won't be able to list his home fast enough.  He can sell his home, buy a new home and even buy a new car that gets better gas mileage.  You'll be his shero.

Cedric,

I think so as well...I mean with the traffic in Florida...and the daily accidents...I hope I end up being his hero.
