flowers in Haiku Maui HI

Last week I mentioned this upcoming event in Haiku Maui Hawaii ... the annual Flower Festival....

Haiku Ho'olaulea 2008 - was a resounding success this past weekend.  This year the weather cooperated and it was the most beautiful sunny day you could imagine on Maui - so you know it was GREAT!  I think the past few years the rain kind of dampened spirits somewhat, but not this year.

We actually were up and at the fair just in time to catch the opening blessing, and the booths and vendors were just putting the finishing touches on their displays.  We brought our visitors, Steve and Sue with us, as they were on their way to the airport to go back home to Canada (reluctantly).

Bought some trinkets and a nice tote bag locally made, some plants, some organic jams and jellies... lilikoi butter, hot pepper jelly, mulberry jam, mango chutney.  Ate some chow fun.  Talked story with some old friends.  Watched the kids doing hula It was fun!

It was a riot of colors!  I have so many pictures, I'm going to just dump some in here and not even try to make a nice layout.  Hope you enjoy the tropical flower photos.

Would you like to attend this community event next year?  If you like, I can keep you posted of the date.  Just send me an EMAIL and we can keep in touch.

Georgina- those are some vibrant colors. I am waiting for spring to go to the desert to see the blooms. I am one of the few people in my neighborhood who loves flowering plants, but I am waiting for the real burst of color to come.

Jimmy - thanks for dropping in.

Katerina - many many people make it a yearly activity to come to Maui, just like the whales!

Sally - Maui is such a sparkling place isn't it?

Lisa - agriculture is still big here, in Haiku and upcountry.

Frank - it should be a good year this year, don't you think?  We're also planning a trip to the desert this year.
