Mkd_prefab1Modern prefab (modular) homes can be designed to suit a variety of tastes and price ranges.

In a previous post, we debunked the myths of prefabricated homes. Top benefits included solid construction, shorter build times and green techniques.

WHAT'S SO COOL ABOUT MODERN PREFAB?

Most modern prefab home have green, sustainable elements. The companies in Austin use green construction materials, have less on-site waste, and use energy-efficient appliances. Modern prefab styles can be seen in all areas of Greater Austin, including popular "suburban" areas like Dripping Springs, Leader, and Buda.

Thanks Scott and Wayne!

Sarah: Your reaction is typical, especially if you haven't seen the homes or seen them being built. Most commercial buildings are built using a prefabricated model because the construction is more solid, less prone to mistakes by onsite workers, and you can control quality better. Modern prefabricated homes look great and have some cool styles.

The problem is that people think "mobile" homes, which are lower quality, aren't green, and are often built for the masses. By building common elements in a safe, weather-proof environment, prefabricated log homes and SIPs are more solid. You should check the Home Builder Association website to read more.

Dee - It is great that the consumers will be able to go green even if they chose a prefab house.  Yes most people fail to realise that these types of homes are well built and you could probably save some money on building cost because the construction time frame is shorter.

Hi Dee, Great info!  Modular homes, log homes, and SIPS are all great homes.  They're beautiful homes and it's great that folks are finally starting to realize that in all areas of the country.  Let me know if you need any assistance with financing for a purchaser.  We specialize in log home financing so we're able to overcome the "comps issue" that some lenders struggle with for the appraisal.  We have been providing financing to this niche market on a nationwide scale for 11 years now.  I guess with a name like "Log Lenders of America" we'd have to specialize in it :)

The same applies to modular and/or SIPS construction.  We have some great construction programs for those customers looking to build as well.  I'm located in Austin -- up close to Lakeway -- so let me know if you're in need of a mortgage partner to help with anything!
