BRAC-Base Realignment And Closure-is a fancy way of saying the government established a committee and the committee filed a report to the Prez (in mid 2005) recommending the restructuring and/or closings of domestic military bases. As a result, many members of the military (and subsequent government employees) are going to be relocating all over the nation.

We're gearing up for the effects of BRAC here in Harford County, MD since the Aberdeen Proving Ground is situated here and is a major employer in our area.

Although the recommendations came in 2005, and we're seeing some of the effects here already-we're hearing that the full-blown effects are not expected until a few years out. It's giving us a little time as a county to reinforce our infrastructure (build schools, roads, shopping complexes, etc.) in anticipation of a huge influx of new residents.
