We are making progress on the house we started building last July. Having passed our insulation inspection, we are currently in the middle of hanging drywall. We started with all the lids which are 5/8" 4x12 sheets. We used a drywall lift to hold them up while we attached them with many screws. The wallboard is 1/2" 4x12 sheets and much easier to handle. So far we have the entire 2nd floor hung and are moving down the stairwell area. Tomorrow we will be starting on the first floor and hopefully by the end of the week we shall be nearly ready for our next task. The taping, mudding, and finishing. We rent drywall tools from AMES tools. We use the Bazooka and corner roller which make this job much easier. We absolutely can't stand "orange peel" spray on texture. Once we have the walls taped, corners finished, and are ready for the final texture my husband has his own specialty trowel texture which he applies by hand. It has a subtle look of old plaster when he's finished.
