The Worlds A Sadder Place Today

The worlds a sadder place today we lost a great man yesterday. Paul H. Poberezny, 1921-2013.

I’ve often written that I’ve been blessed in life by the people I’ve known. Paul was one of those people to me and millions of others!

Paul stood in front of us to protect our mutual interest.

Paul inspired us vocally, in writing or with a board smile and a kind word.

Paul lead us, not from the podium, but by rolling up his selves and pitching in beside us.

Paul ask or suggested and thousands pitched in and did it.

Paul was equally at home with kings and peasants separably or together and all liked him.

Paul was a teacher again by rolling up his selves and pitching in beside us.

Paul was a patriot in the AAC and then a long career in the Wisconsin Air National Guard.

Paul H. Poberezny, Founder, Long time President and Chairman of the Experiential Aircraft Association, a friend, an inspiration to so many world wide, RIP!

The world was a better place because of Paul, it’s a sadder place today.

From reading his stories in Popular Mechanics in the ‘50's to meeting the man in 1970 and being involved in the EAA for the next 14 years I was truly blessed. Brenda and I were just two of hundreds of thousands.

Very sad to hear of the loss of Paul, and a very good tribute to him Bill.

Thanks Gary!

I wish I could claim we were great friends, but alas there was the fact that Paul and Audrey were/are older than our parents and even though we spent 2 ot 3 weeks a year at the convention I never got the opportunity to get close. Brenda and Audrey worked together and often they come stumbling back to our camp after the office closed for the day, Paul would come for dinner and to collect Audrey.

Paul would often have some very interesting people in tow. It was an interesting time, good people one and all. It’s been 29 years and Brenda and I still long for Oshkosh the last week end in July each year.

Bill it is always tough to lose a good friend, especially one who has impacted people's lives in a positive way.  We are just passing through this world, and hopefully when we leave we will have left it a better place for having been here.

Paul was a good friend to every one who ever enjoyed an airplane or even just the dream of flight.

Brenda and I were just two of hundreds of thousands.

Some people touch the heart and other grab onto it and never let go.  Paul sounds like that person.
