When the freshness of Pinterest goes awry

Fresh displays of architecture, beauty, design, DIY, fashion, home decor, holidays, pets, quotes, technology, travel, advice and so much more are pinned all day and all night long, being one of the fastest growing Social Media Networks. When the freshness of Pinterest goes awry
Images seem to summons us to want more, to dig in, calling us to search for more pleasing images. After all, doesn’t an image paint a picture of a 1000 words? Although Pinterest contains words describing our pins and boards, the images are the real captivating fury.

You’ll find major corporate brands to the self employed seeking out customers to attract to their product and/or service. You’ll also find women and men simply enjoying Pinterest, as a pastime; it’s no longer considered just for girls.

So with all of this enchantment, how could anything possibly go awry? I’ve been enjoying Pinterest a long time now, well over a year now and just the other day, I experienced what I term as Pinterest going awry.

So what happened? Whenever there is good cheer, enthusiasm, comfort, solace or on the other hand, adversity, setbacks and being defenseless, there seems to be devious souls standing by ready to try and take advantage of your sentiment taking you off course or to take advantage of your circumstances. Pinterest, obviously refers to the first part of the feel good, enthusiastic participation. Just this week, someone tried to harness my enthusiasm for Pinterest.

I had received notification that one of my pins had been repinned from my All a Flutter Board and I thought to myself, oh that’s a nice thought, as I had forgotten about that pin thinking, I ought to dig into that a bit more and visit the site from where I pinned it originally to see if there are any new pins that make me go all a flutter! So I clicked on the pin and it took me to a blog and I thought, let me dig in a bit more to see where the pin’s original source came from where I’ll be able to discover some wonderful new pins to share with my followers so, I clicked on the pin again  - I came to a screeching halt, as my faith filled quote pin took me to a live Porn site. It was quite obvious to me, that whoever took this faith based pin and altered its link, forwarding it to a porn site, knew very well what they were doing; they thought let’s throw this person off their thoughts of faith when they click on this pin and it takes them to a site of what they would likely view in disgust. How did they do this? On a pin, at the bottom of the pin you are able to alter it's link so what they did was simply use the original pleasant image or in this case the quote and they changed the link on the pin so when you clicked on it you'd visit a live porn site.

I’ll never understand the behavior of these deviates so, I can only forewarn you, as a Pinner, to double check your pins source for no unwanted surprises.  I’ve written about Secrets on Pinterest before yet, this is never what I had in mind, as this must not remain a secret. Pinner beware.  I hope that Pinterest will work on blocking this smut content from taking the dazzle out of Pinterest. So Pinterest, if you're your watching, let's get rid of these dazzle crashers. Be sure to follow me on Pinterest too! See you there - Lynn Pineda on Pinterest
