Make sure to check out the weekend-long activities in Northfield over Labor Day.  Here’s a link to the full entertainment and activity schedule—lots of great things to do!

Events start on Friday evening with an outdoor movie at the Gray Building (donations appreciated). I haven’t heard yet what the movie will be, but I’m sure it will be appropriate for all ages.

Saturday hits the ground running with the Northfield Savings Bank Flying Pig 5k. There’s always a good turnout for this race. And, while running 5 kilometers may be a regular thing for some people, others can take part in the mile walk. Barre Town Elementary will have a contingent on youngsters getting a little weekend exercise in the mile walk.

Then throughout the day, there’s music, magic, and even the nationally recognized Norwich University Drill Team. If you’ve still got energy, check out the dance party from 7:00 to 10:00.

Sunday’s activities include more music, magic, and entertainment. There will be presentations by the Northfield Historical Society, and “Touching History”—a hands on craft event for kids (of all ages, thank you very much!)

You’ll love Monday’s parade. It starts at 10:00 and works its way right through Main Street. Of course there will be beautiful floats, antique cars, and people just having fun. But the Northfield Labor Day Parade also highlights the hundreds of Cadets. This tradition separates it from other parades, and is impressive to watch.

Get to the parade early to stake out a good spot—this is a very well-attended event!

And, of course throughout the whole weekend, there are midway rides, food vendors, and games for folks of all ages.

Again, visit the Northfield Labor Day Organization for more details and the complete schedule.
