408 S.1st Street in Lindenhurst NY located in the Merridale Park section has closed. This historic home has had a long journey and now my clients can move on.
I am not one to tell Lindenhurst NY expired homeowners it's their price that has caused the house not to sell. More times than not, it's not the price as the case with this home.
This Victorian home was built in 1891 and my clients kept to that era decorating-wise and this style is not for everyone. The back of the house has a conservatory room that took up a lot of the back yard making it undesirable for buyers that want a pool and swing set for the kids. Now this means we lost about 50% of potential buyers. I told my clients it isn't the price but due to lack of backyard space expect the home to be on the market for months.
During April of this year showings tripled and by mid May we received offers. The one we took all of a sudden decided to hold the contract signing hostage until some small home inspection issues were resolved. Really? The selling agent told me 10 days prior there were no inspection issues. As I'm on the phone with the selling agent, another agent came to my office and had an over asking price offer. Bye-bye buyer #1 and hello buyer #2.This is what happens when you play games.....you lose the house.
My clients were so great to work with and I will miss them. But, I will visit them in their other home out on the Eastern end of Long Island and can't wait for that!
